On to the story!!

"Ugh, all of these commissions suck," you groaned while grimacing at the assignment board.

"Maybe you're just picky," Kaeya snidely remarked while flipping a mora coin up in the air. You turned to glare at him, only causing his resting smirk to deepen.

"Well then why don't you choose one?" you snapped and moved aside for him to approach the board. He sighed and pocketed the mora, rolling his eyes while he walked up to the request bulletin.

"Let's see..." he hummed while examining the flyers, "What about this one?" He pointed to a paper, which you skimmed quickly then scoffed.

"No way," you asserted, "I'm not going all the way to Liyue for one commission." Kaeya smirked and gazed at you out of the corner of his eye.

"Oh? Are you sure? Maybe your Harbinger friend will be there," he said slyly. You felt your face light up with heat as you glanced nervously over at Hertha, hoping she didn't hear. Luckily, she was in deep conversation with Guy and was none the wiser.

"Will you shut the fuck up and just pick one?" you snapped, avoiding eye contact. Kaeya chuckled quietly and turned back to the request board.

"Here, Manly Jack wants some fried eggs," he pointed out, gesturing to a flyer, "Easy enough." You clicked your tongue in disapproval.

"That's such a pussy commission," you grumbled, "We need something more substantial; something with teeth in it. We're on probation, remember?"

"Well, maybe we wouldn't be on probation if you hadn't tackled me that night at the tavern," he mused condescendingly. Your look of disappointment turned to a fierce glare.

"Maybe I wouldn't have tackled you if you weren't such a dick in the first place," you hissed. Kaeya turned to face you, crossing his arms.

"You started it," he stated, glaring back.

"I did not," you spat, trying to burn a hole through him with your eyes.

"Did too," he enunciated hatefully.

You held each other's gaze for a moment. The tension only built as your fists clenched shut.

"Uncle Kaeya! Uncle Kaeya!" a high pitched voice interrupted your glaring contest.

For a split second, Kaeya's look of hatred lit up with absolute joy before he turned away, kneeling down and putting his arms out. A small girl dressed in red sprinted into his embrace. He spun her around, then tossing her in the air and catching her, before pulling her into a close hug again. All the while, she giggled furiously.
