"This is great!" Klee chirped happily, skipping through the woods of Wolvendom while holding Kaeya's hand, "Now we can have a real Dansleif in distress!" You and Kaeya looked at her with confusion.
"Dainsleif?" you inquired, thinking about the other Khaenri'an that occasionally visited Mondstadt. Kaeya's confused expression suddenly turned to one of enlightenment.
"No, Klee, you mean damsel in distress," he corrected gently.
"Ohhhhhh," Klee mused thoughtfully, "Damsel in distress." She enunciated the words carefully, feeling how the word moved out of her mouth, then smiled widely.
"Y/N, will you be our damsel in distress?" she asked, dropping Kaeya's hand and turning to you.
"Well..." you chuckled sheepishly, but couldn't say no to her adorable, excited face, "What does the position entail?" Klee jumped up and down enthusiastically.
"Tell her, Uncle Kaeya! Tell her!" she commanded joyfully. Kaeya smirked and eyed you mischievously.
"The rules of Evil Overlord are simple," he began, taking a few steps closer to you, "Klee is the evil overlord who is terrorizing the nation of Mondstadt. Sometimes she attacks infrastructure, sometimes she takes over the Knights of Favonius and controls the city, sometimes she burns the cathedral down, things like that." You quirked an eyebrow and looked at Klee, who was chasing a butterfly and giggling sweetly.
"My job is always to be the hero and defeat her before she destroys the whole city, which I do, every time," he explained, "Today she wants to play Damsel in Distress."
"What evil deed is she committing in Damsel in Distress?" you asked, chuckling in disbelief. Kaeya leaned towards you, smiling cockily.
"Evil Overlord Klee captures the most beautiful woman in all of Mondstadt and I have to find her save her," he said mischievously, pausing to glance at your lips before turning away and walking toward Klee.
"Pretty fitting role for you, I'd say," he threw out casually over his shoulder. You became so flustered you were unable to form a coherent sentence and spluttered in disbelief.
"What? No. Shut up," you managed to stutter out as you followed him over to Klee, "You don't mean that." He suddenly stopped and whipped around to look at you, causing you to almost crash into him before you were able to stop yourself. He leaned down a bit to look you directly in the eyes, his face mere centimeters from yours.
"Don't I?" he said in a low voice, sending the feeling of heat rippling across your skin. You knew you were blushing so you scoffed and walked past him towards Klee.
"Okay, Klee, are you ready?" you asked, trying to recover.
"Yeah!" she replied happily, "We gotta go hide! Count to one hundred, Uncle Kaeya!" Without a second thought, she snatched your hand and began pulling you along after her as she ran through the woods.
You looked over your shoulder at Kaeya, who gave you a mischievous smirk before covering his un-patched eye and beginning to count. You gulped nervously as you followed Klee, weaving through the trees to find the perfect hiding place. After a little while, she found a cluster of trees and stopped to examine them.
"Here! This will be my evil lair," she stated, "We have to hide from Uncle Kaeya." She pulled you behind a tree and looked around vigilantly. You, on the other hand, just watched the small girl in amusement.
"What now?" you whispered, crouching to her level.
"You hafta act in distress," Klee explained, "When Uncle Kaeya comes, I'm gonna spook him! Then has to defeat me to save his true love!" Heat began creeping up your cheeks.
