"Every hour on the hour," Albedo commanded, holding a thermometer in front of your face, "Say 'ah.'"
"Ah," you uttered in compliance, causing your friend to stick the glass tube into your mouth. You sighed grumpily and glanced at Kaeya, who was sitting in a chair off to the side, looking on in amusement as Albedo and Sucrose poked and prodded you with various medical instruments.
"Don't forget to take your temperature after you burst into flames, too," Sucrose added, "We need to know if there's a direct correlation to your body temperature and the color of your flames."
"Iont' fink dat's how it werks," you replied around the thermometer in your mouth.
"We need to find out if that's how it works," Albedo shot back patronizingly, "That's a process we call science." You rolled your eyes but giggled a little. Albedo smiled playfully at you and removed the thermometer from your mouth, noting down your temperature in a notebook, which he closed and handed to you along with the temperature-taking device.
"Please don't forget," he said, sounding just a little bit like he was begging, "I want you to record everything you possibly can about your Vision: how your elemental power feels, when your combustion happens, what gets damaged and what doesn't-" he paused to glance over at Kaeya, causing your face to turn a bit red before he continued, "Especially during combat. I want you to pay attention and note anything that you didn't experience before you got it." You nodded slowly, trying to take in all the information Albedo was throwing at you.
"Have you even fought with it yet?" Kaeya interjected, causing you to snap your head around to look at him. Your face became redder.
"Well, no..." you admitted, "I haven't exactly gotten it to work on command..." Kaeya smirked gloatingly, sending a wave of annoyance over you, "But I'm going to figure it out," you concluded confidently.
"When?" Kaeya shot back, causing the seething feeling inside you to grow.
"Eventually," you snapped, "Stop interrogating me, asshole." Kaeya smirked evilly while you huffed and turned back to your friends.
"Don't worry, Y/N," Sucrose chimed in shyly, "All you need is a little practice!"
"Thanks, Sucrose," you replied, squeezing her hand and smiling at her warmly, causing her to blush.
"Well, that solves one of our problems," Kaeya remarked, standing up and stretching, "I know what we're doing today." He gestured for you to follow so you quickly said your goodbyes and followed him out of the lab and into the Favonius hallways.
"What exactly are you plotting?" you inquired suspiciously when you caught up with him. He chuckled sinisterly and held open the door for you to the outside.
"'Plotting?'" he parroted while laughing, "When you say that, you make it sound like I'm evil." As he finished his sentence he leaned in closer to you and smirked, allowing his breath to trickle down your neck, sending a shiver through your body.
"That's because you are evil," you shot back as you crossed the threshold of the door, trying to keep the flirting to a minimum for fear of prying eyes. You both paused half a second, feeling the electricity between you growing, before you cleared your throat and broke away, descending the stairs with Kaeya close behind.
Within no time, he lead you out the gates and into the fields of Mondstadt. When you approached a Hilichurl camp, he stopped, turned to you and gestured to the beings. You looked at him blankly.
"What?" you asked. Kaeya sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Go fight them," he commanded. You sighed and crossed your arms, looking away from him.
