AN: Do you ever wonder if Wattpad is cursed? Like writing a story on it makes bad things happen to you? I just feel like such a cliche Tragic Backstory Wattpad Author™ right now. Anyway, guess what? I have COVID. So more time in bed means hopefully more writing for you guys. It's going around again so be safe and wash your hands frequently! I hope you enjoy this chapter and, as always, thanks for reading!

"Done!" Klee announced, stretching upwards and yawning. Kaeya pulled his now-braided hair over his shoulder to inspect it carefully.

"You're getting better at this," he told her fondly as she laid down in the grass next to you.

"She's definitely better than me," you remarked sheepishly, running your fingers along Klee's sloppily braided pigtails.

Klee had insisted the three of you do a braid chain, because she had always wanted to, but never had enough people. Apparently her and Kaeya would braid each other's hair frequently, and she dreamed one day of getting enough people to actually make a braiding circle.

"It's okay, Y/N," Klee comforted sleepily, her eyes closing and opening slowly, "You just need practice. Just like Uncle Kaeya always says." She yawned again, causing you to smile warmly and brush a stray hair out of her face. In response, she scooted over and laid her head on your thigh, using it as a pillow as she gazed out at Cider Lake. The sun had begun to sink, casting long shadows across the fields.

"You tired, bud?" Kaeya asked, stroking her hair gently.

"Mm hm," she replied, nodding and yawning again.

You were surprised how soft and sweet Kaeya was with her. His kind and caring manner seemed so genuine, yet entirely contrary to what you had usually seen.

Silence fell for a few moments as you considered this and gazed out at the water until you heard Klee's breathing deepen. You looked down to find her fast sleep, her head resting comfortably in your lap.

"She's out," you whispered to Kaeya, who chuckled softly as he twisted his braid around his fingers while looking at you with a soft smirk on his face.

"And I never got my hair braided," you sighed faux-sadly, stroking the slumbering Klee's cheek.

"Well if you're gonna be such a baby about it..." Kaeya remarked quietly and stood up. He sat down again behind you, then commanded, "Look up." You turned as much as you could without jostling the little girl and blushed.

"I was kidding, you don't actually have to-" you started, but were cut off by Kaeya grabbing your head and turning it to face away from him.

"Look. Up," he demanded again, pushing your chin up towards the sky and pulling your forehead back towards him.

You tried not to move, but felt your ears getting hot at his commanding tone. Then, he started running his fingers through your hair. He dragged them down slowly, carefully, trying not to hurt you by pulling your hair. You focused on your breathing and tried not to think about how good it felt to have him practically massaging your scalp. As he took a few small strands from near your forehead and began Fontaine-style braiding your hair, you chuckled slightly.

"What?" he inquired in a quiet voice, gradually adding more strands of hair as he worked his way down your locks.

"Nothing, I just..." you started, choosing your words carefully, "didn't know you and Klee were actually best friends. I thought it was a joke." Kaeya laughed quietly in response while you closed your eyes in euphoria feeling his fingertips drag across your scalp.

"Of course we're best friends," he stated plainly, "We even have friendship bracelets."

"So I heard," you giggled, "It just seems so... I don't know. Random?" You felt Kaeya shrug behind you.
