"Bailed out?" you asked, staying in the exact same spot with your legs as tightly together as possible, "By whom?" Kaeya scoffed and looked at you.
"Whom cares?" he mocked you, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! And you call yourself a member of the cavalry..." Huffman laughed while you glared at Kaeya as he exited the cell and stood behind Huffman.
"Are you coming?" Huffman asked. You felt your face turn red. You slowly looked around the cell for your underwear, trying not to move so much. It was nowhere to be found.
"I was just looking for something," you answered, trying not to sound nervous.
"Did you really look for it?" Kaeya asked, "Maybe you should bend down and look under the beds over there." You stopped and looked at his face. He was smiling that sinister smile. The one you hated so much. A warm shudder went up your spine.
"No, it's fine," you grumbled, glaring at him with a look that could kill, "I don't need it." Huffman shrugged, completely oblivious, as he lead the two of you to the staircase. He started climbing but when you reached the first step, Kaeya stopped and gestured dramatically.
"After you," he said suavely. You looked daggers at him then grabbed his shoulder and pushed him up the stairs in front of you, grateful there was no one else to walk up behind you.
You both signed paperwork and got your stuff back before exiting the building. A red-haired man was waiting for you outside.
"I'd tell you to say thank you, but Barbatos knows the two of you have probably paid for it in drinks over the years," Diluc remarked. You held the charred hem of your skirt down as you walked up to him.
"Thank you, Diluc," you breathed with relief.
"Don't thank him too much," Kaeya interjected, "Don't forget who put us in there." The ex-brothers glared at each other for a moment.
"What happened to not looking a gift horse in the mouth, Cavalry Captain?" you asked sassily. Kaeya broke his intense gaze and shrugged nonchalantly.
"Stop getting into trouble outside my bar or next time I won't let my guilty conscience get the best of me," Diluc commanded, then walked back towards the tavern. You and Kaeya watched as he disappeared down the road.
"Cock-blocked by my own brother..." he mused, causing you to look at him in surprise, "Can't say it's the first time it's happened!" He chuckled as you remembered you were angry at him.
"You're disgusting," you remarked, grimacing.
"Yeah but you like that don't you?" he flirted, getting closer to you. You stepped back.
"Gods, I can't believe I let myself be seduced by YOU," you groaned, covering your eyes in shame. Kaeya laughed out loud.
"'Seduced by me'?" he retorted though laughs, "Oooh, say it again. It gives me the chills."
"Shut the fuck up," you snapped, remembering to squeeze your thighs together, "You have something of mine and I want it back." Kaeya smiled at you mischievously.
"I'm not sure I know what you're talking about," he taunted, leaning closer to your face, "Besides, I thought you said you didn't need them." You glared at him and grabbed his collar in anger.
"Give. Them. Back," you spat, to no reaction from the man in front of you, "Or I'll light you on fire again." Kaeya leaned in so close his breath tickled your lips.
"Do it," he dared you, glancing down at your lips. You felt that fiery feeling in your skin again. In that moment, you realized you didn't know how to ignite yourself on command. You held your glare for a second longer, trying to make the fire come before giving up and breaking down into a pouting look, still lightly clutching his collar.
"Just give them back, Kaeya," you whined. He laughed in your face.
"Like I said, I don't know what you're talking about," he replied smoothly. You gritted your teeth, then shoved him away.
"Fine," you snapped, "Keep them. Do whatever creepy, perverted things you want with them."
"That sounded like permission," he remarked, grinning, "But I wasn't planning on doing anything with them." You looked at him in annoyed confusion as he leaned forward to whisper in your ear.
"I just wanted to see you squirm."
You inhaled shakily, resisting the urge to give into the warm rush he sent throughout your body. Then, you snapped your gaze to him.
"You just admitted you had them! Give them back!" you shouted and started frisking him, feeling in his pockets.
"Stop it," he giggled, pushing you away, "That tickles." You looked at him flatly.
"Liar," you stated. He just continued to look at you with an evil amusement. You were getting nowhere.
"Whatever," you grumbled, turning away, "I'm leaving."
"One more thing," Kaeya started.
You turned to face him, but he quickly caught you by your arm, pulling you into him. His other hand went under your chin, grabbing your face by the jaw and forcing you to look up at him. His lips were mere millimeters from yours. You breathed shakily as his fingertips dug into your cheeks. He enunciated his words carefully, a twinge of fury escaping in his tone which made it sound as if he was growling more than speaking.
"If you ever spit in my face again... we're going to have real fucking problems. Understood?" You gulped and nodded carefully, feeling slightly nervous under his intense gaze.
"Good..." he whispered, sending a shiver down your spine. He loosened his grip, but still held you in position. You felt your body start to tremble under his warm breath on your face. His thumb slowly moved from your jaw to brush against your bottom lip gently. Then, he let go and started to leave.
"See ya," he threw out casually, waving over his shoulder to you.
You realized you had been holding your breath the entire time and quickly let out the air trapped in your lungs, watching him walk away.
