AN: Let's just pretend I didn't ghost you guys for two months 🥴
Even after an hour, the two of you were still laughing loudly with your feet dangling off the hands of the Barbatos statue in the middle of the city.
"You're lying!" you accused through your laughter.
"I swear on my life!" Kaeya replied, wiping a tear from his eye, "The last time I spoke to him, Diluc was still sleeping with that teddy bear." You covered your mouth, laughing so hard your stomach hurt.
"It's so funny that so many people are scared of him," you giggled, "He's such a fuckin softie." Kaeya nodded vigorously while taking another swig out of one of the flasks. Your laughter died down as he handed it to you and you took a drink as well.
"Whose turn is it?" he asked once you had both caught your breath. You had been asking each other questions since you left the gate and it had turned into a little game. However, you kept getting sidetracked with conversation talking about anything that came to your mind. You shared stories, told jokes, and laughed so hard you were afraid you would snap Barbatos' digits off. And all of it was said with complete and total honesty from both parties. You wouldn't let a lie slide, so he refused to let you do the same.
"It's definitely yours," you stated, taking another drink.
"No it's not," he snapped, "I asked the question about keeping secrets." You blew your lips out in exasperation.
"Yeah, but I thought I could trick you," you giggled. Kaeya rolled his eyes and gestured expectantly. You had a question floating in the back of your mind, gnawing away at you, but you were slightly nervous to ask. You fidgeted a bit before shaking yourself and taking a deep breath, deciding to just bite the bullet and ask.
"So..." you started, tracing random shapes on the flask with your fingertips, "Why haven't you...y'know... come on to me lately?" Your face felt hot with embarrassment while a smirk flashed across Kaeya's face, but he caught himself and neutralized his expression.
"Well," he began carefully, "you've been through something pretty traumatic recently and I didn't want to... Push you into something you weren't comfortable with." You looked over at him in surprise and he shrugged. "I just told myself I would wait until you initiated, because then I would be certain I wasn't impeding your processing."
"Really? That's why?" you asked, receiving a genuine nod in response, "Hm. I just thought you were getting bored of me." Kaeya threw his head back and laughed again.
"You? Boring? Are you kidding me?" he chuckled. You giggled bashfully and took another drink from the flask, feeling much better having just been honest.
"My turn," he said, then turned to face you more, "On that topic, how are you?" He paused and you looked away, so he added, "Really." You sighed.
"I genuinely don't know," you admitted, "I feel like things have been happening so fast lately. Everything is changing. Nothing is going to plan, and on top of all that, the guy I've been crushing on for years assaulted me and called me a prude because I wouldn't sleep with him on the first date." You hugged your knees and looked out at the nighttime city lights. Kaeya listened closely as you let everything spill out. "I feel stupid for feeling stupid. And I feel even more stupid for making a big deal out of it because it wasn't a big deal."
"It was," Kaeya stated firmly.
"No it wasn't," you argued, diminishing your own feelings, "I said I'd go on a date with somebody I wasn't into anymore. I lead him on and I regretted it. End of story." Kaeya shook his head.
"Absolutely not," he stated, "even if you had been naked every time you interacted with him in an attempt to seduce him, it still doesn't give him the right to touch you when you didn't want it." He cocked his head to try to get you to look at him, but you refused. "It's not your fault, Y/N," he said truthfully, "You know that, right?"
