We both were walking by the outskirts of the village holding eachother's hands. Although our life went in havoc, we are calm and peaceful now. Our problems all are over now I hope. Now we are not hiding anything from anyone. That's more than anything to live in peace.

He started to cough and I looked at him. He was beaten to bleed. His forehead and the corner of his lips are cut and bleeding. My eyes teared up.

" Vir.. you okay? ", I asked. I have nothing to help him. Not even our clothes and any belongings with us.

" Nothing Madhvi.. I'm okay ", he said smiling. Then coughed a little. I couldn't see him like this.

" You can't walk too much. Come.. sit here. You must rest a lot in this condition but look because of me.. you too are suffering ", he said sitting down on the rock which was at the roadside.

He made me sit on the other side.

" You're telling my lines ", I said. He just shook his head.

I held his hand and he turned to me. I took the end of my cotton shawl and pressed it on his lips to stop the bleeding. He was looking at me in shock. I started to cry. He pushed my hand away from his face.

"Why are you crying? Are you missing your family already?", he asked me.

"No.."

" You scared to be with me or ashamed of our homelessness? ", he asked.

"No.."

"Then why are you crying?"

"I'm scared about you.. my family wouldn't give up that easily. They might harm you.. I'm scared for you..", I cried.

"Hey.. nothing would happen to me. Now stop crying. You know.. our baby will call you cry baby hearing your cries...", he mocked.

"Is this joke needed at this condition?", I asked and he laughed off.

"Just stated facts you know.."

"Where are we going?", I asked and he frowned thinking about something.

"We don't know this place.. I dont think we'll get a place", he said sadly.

He stood up as an old man crossed by with his cycle. He asked about this place and he asked about any house nearby. That man denied seeing me.

"You both ranaway from your place right? What if I get into trouble? Go away..", the man said. We both sighed.

We were walking a little when a bike stopped near us. There were two men looking at us creepily. Not at us.. but at me.

"Hey young people.. any help?", one asked with a smirk.

"No, thanks", Vir said holding my hands tightly.

"But.. you look lost. You know there are many hungry wolves near by. They might harm you.. come with us or atleast send her", another said looking at me and Vir left my hand. I was shocked. Tears started to well up hearing such filthy words.

I turned to see Vir tightened his fist. He hid me behind him and patted my cheeks as I was crying.

He then walked towards him furiously and punched him hard. The men tried to beat him by he didn't leave a room for it. They both ran away.

" F*cking drunkards ", he muttered looking at their disappeared sight. He turned to me and closed his mouth.

" You're cursing? ", I asked wiping my tears and he just shook his head.

" Sorry, it just left my mouth unknowingly ", he said smiling.

" You should have beaten my brother's goons too. You're strong too.. ", I said.
