"Vansh.. take care. Finish off your lunch today and don't waste food. Okay?" I said pulling his cheeks side to side. He made a funny face while making a nod."Okay." He said dutifully.
I patted his head and he giggled with a mischievous smirk.
"What?" I asked with a frown. The glint of naughtiness can't be left unnoticed.
"I love you, Mummy !" He yelled and started running. I just laughed off. Nowadays I wouldn't care if he called me mummy in public. He can let the whole world hear that I'm his 'mummy'.
He was giggling happily while running. His vision was behind him, looking at me. Before I could warn him, he bumped into a girl who just left from the kindergarten.
"Ouch." She winced and turned towards him. Her eyes narrowed at him. She frowned looking at him with guilt and helped him stand up.
I just stand there frozen. She..
Madhvi Mehta.
"I'm so sorry!"
"It's okay. My fault here." He said.
I couldn't feel anything. My body and my mind went numb. Her full face, now shruk slightly. Her cheeks were a bit hollowed. Her beautiful eyes looked tired and sunk. Her body lost so much weight, unhealthily.
My eyes welled up the tears.
The reason was me. I made her to this. If only I had been cautious enough, this wouldn't have happened. She wouldn't have been suffering; in silence.
The anger and guilt rushed inside me like a lightning bolt. The anger over me; the guilt over her condition.
I was shook out off my thoughts when Vansh looked towards me. Her eyes followed his gaze and met mine. Her expression changed a complete swirling. Her eyes widened as if to see a monster.
The monster I really were that day.
Her eyed didn't even look at mine for more than a second. The pain and agony were still thick in the surrounding air I inhaled.
My heart felt like it was ripped apart.
She blinked the tears away. He looked at Vansh as he squealed.
"Mummy! Can I eat this?" He asked showing me the toffee she gave him. His eyes twinkled.
"Yes." I said as he squealed again and ran away. Leaving us both alone.
She tried to run away again but I couldn't voice out for her to stop. My body reacted on my own as my hand tugged on her wrist. She froze.
She stood there for a few moments before swatting my hand away harshly. With the force, something fell from her pocket. Something like a small, white box like thing. I bent down and took it in my hands. My eyes widened and my mouth gaped.
Pregnancy kit!
The result it showed - POSITIVE. It was a freaking positive. That means.. She?
I kept my palm over my mouth to shut it as I inhaled deeply.
A child? In a child?
How could I do this?
My tears were flowing uncontrollably. I wiped them off continuously. Child..
How will I tally all of the sin I did? I impregnated a teenager?
How bad I wanted to erase my existence from my birth to this.
Oh god.. what did I do to you? If you wanna punish me.. do it! Why her?
