"Hey Rehan! Saanvi! Good morning!" I beamed as I jumped off the corrider wall.
"Morning," They said in unison as they walked past me.
I can still feel their anger. I sighed as I walked behind them. Raghu jumped to my left side and placed his arm over my shoulder. I looked at him as we walked forward.
"Hey." I said with a weak smile.
He turned his face away and feigned ignorance. I just smiled.
"They'll come around," he said slowly looking at Rehan and Saanvi. I chuckled.
"Just like you do?" I asked and he glared at me.
My eyes fell over the person who walked past us without noticing and was looking lost. My eyes followed the person. The person who had been continuously playing in my mind. The person who managed to make all my thoughts and plans wrap around themselves.
Madhvi.
My body automatically followed her as if she was the fire and I, the moth, wanting to burn myself in her flames.
But a girl suddenly extended her feet between Madhvi's due to which she got tripped down. I rushed forward to catch her from falling. I placed my hand over her stomach.
Worry crawled in me along some intrusive thoughts of Madhvi or my child being hurt. I can never even imagine their single hair being hurt, let alone themselves.
"Watch your way while walking and don't just go on pulling others legs. I hope you don't love breaking your nose after all," Raghu yelled at the girl. I looked down at Madhvi who managed to push me back and stood on her feet.
"Please move.." she said looking at us.
I felt my mind too numb to react as I kept on looking at her, into her eyes, searching for any sort of pain or hurt. All I got to see was anger ablaze in them. I stepped away from her and rushed towards my classroom. Surprisingly, Raghu didn't follow me. I don't want him to notice me at my lowest.
The rest of the day passed like as usual but Shyam wasn't as usual. He was being unusually silent and detached. Even during his favourite class, chemistry.
I thought of asking him whether he still was thinking about the past but I was blocked on my way by Reyansh, Madhvi's bestfriend. The one who always looked at me with a strong intention to kill me.
"Uhm.. Hey!" I said with an awkward smile.
"Can I talk to you?" He asked with a blank face.
"Sure. Why not?" I said as we walked towards the corridor. He was exceptionally silent when he was with me. Who wouldn't when he clearly knew what I made of his bestfriend.
"How are you doing?" He asked me. I looked at him with queries.
Why was he talking nice to me?
"Yeah. Good! You?" I asked.
"Fine!" He replied and looked down at the ground. I didn't know what to say again so I kept quite until he thought to break the silence.
"I'm sorry!" He said. I looked at him with confusion. Did I hear something wrong?
"I'm sorry for blaming you for everything. I knew you wouldn't have intentionally done that to Madhvi or anyone but looking her at that condition made all my braincells go haywire. She was everything I had. She was my bestfriend, my sister! I love her so much to look at her badly rippen apart. I'm sorry."
"No Reyansh. You cannot apologize to me. It was me who hurt her. I must apologize to you. I was at fault—"
He pulled me to a hug. I was surprised at hos sudden action.
