Chapter 28

At early morning 6.15 a.m.

I sat at the bus stop while closing my face with the shawl. The old people present there were looking at me creepily. I felt like hiding somewhere but I need to run away from this village. I need to take bus to go away from the state.

There came a government bus and I boarded it. I sat inside and saw only few people present. I sighed. Nobody would identify me.. I hope atleast.

I looked out of the window to see the sunrise. I was in deep thoughts. The bus stopped at the next stop and then started. I didn't cared the one who entered until I felt him sitting beside me. I turned to see, it was..

Raghu.

" Running away? Huh? ", he asjed without turning to me. I just looked at him with widened eyes.

" No.. no.. its not. I'm going to meet grandma ", I lied.

" As far as I know.. your brother wouldn't allow taking bus.. alone ", he stated.

" None of your business. Stay away from it. ", i declared and turned my face away from him to avoid any more conversation.

" I wouldn't have cared if you go or do whatever you want. I'm just concerned about my friend. Only him! ", he said. I was hurt with his behavior. Who asked his help? Is he thinking that cheap about me?

Before I could bash, I saw him blinking his tears.

" But it would be the biggest lie if I say I don't care about you too. From the day I got to know about the thing between you and Vir, I couldn't leave you both suffer alone. I wanted to lend help but I'm incapable. And about Vir, he's my everything. We both are orphans.. maybe that is enough for us to be binded as friends forever.. ", he said.

" Sorry Madhvi. I behaved so rude with you. Vir told me many times that you are good but I refused to listen him. I was scared that you'll hurt him.. "

" And now.. you're even ready to leave the village for him.. isn't it? ", he asked a then chuckled.

" But did you once think about his state? What will happen to him? ", he said.

" Nothing will happen to him. He can start living his life forgetting me thinking as a lost chapter. And my family wouldn't trouble him too.. "

" Haha! What a joke... your family? Won't hurt him? You sure? ", he asked.

" Yes "

He laughed.

" That day your brother threatened to kill him.. for following you ", he said.

" What? When? ", I asked.

" A day before the farewell. He used to follow you when you're out. He didn't even listen to me. Then your brother caught him. He slapped him and threatened to kill him but he still don't listen. He values you more than his life. Here you are leaving him all alone? Now.. your brother would kill him thinking that you ran away because of him ", Raghu stated.

" No.. that's illogical ", I said and stood up.

" Illogical and your brother are the same ", he said standing up.

" Driver! Driver! Please stop the bus! Please stop! ", I cried and the bus stopped abruptly.

I looked at the time. It was 11 in the morning. If i take return bus, I would take 4 in the evening to reach back home. Oh god! What have I done? Please keep my Vir safe.

" Madhvi!! ", I heard Raghu calling me. I turned to see him waving his hands at me.

I rushed to him. He had seen the return bus so he called me. He took my bag. We both boarded inside. He made me sit in the ladies seat and went to the gents seat.
