I was frightened to the core. The streaks of tears wetted the cloth about my chest. My hands and feet felt numb with fear."Vir.. please come down. I'm scared!" I called him wiping my tears.
I heard footsteps of someone coming downstairs. Before I could even look up, I was called in to his warm embrace, with which, I broke down into tears.
First the shattering noise of the glass and then this fearful and dreaded feeling. I felt like this all being done to us for a cause. What was it?
"Sshh. Madhvi! I'm here. It was nothing. A cat came inside not knowing his way and accidentally shattered an old glass frame. Don't worry. Nothing will happen to us." Vir said caressing my cheeks. I looked at him unconvinced.
His jaws clenched and his muscles tensed. I know it's nothing fine. But I did let that slide for now. If it was something bothering to us, he would've said it to me. I know I hold importance in his life and he'll confide to me even if how bitter it is. That was the main vow we took on our marriage.
Thinking about our marriage, our child and our love, I relaxed a bit in his arms. He got relaxed too. Whatever it is, I trust my husband with anything and everything. Even if how young he is, he's matured with everything about me.
I trust him wholeheartedly and will never suspect him.
"Are we okay now?" He asked.
"Yes, I guess!" I said and he smiled picking me up.
"Your cook is ready now, ma'am. What you want to do?"
I licked my lips dreamily thinking about the tasty food I badly wanted to eat. Before I could reply, he interrupted.
"Something 'Healthy', now tell." He said. I pouted and he laughed.
We both headed towards the kitchen and had some banters, hearty laughs and healthy food.
Days passed in light speed when I'm with him. Brother Anuj and Sister-in-law along with their kid and little Vansh payed a recent visit which warmed our home with happiness. Vansh is our lucky charm. His smile makes our day pleasant, especially Vir who still look at Vansh's photo every day with a smile.
It was an yet another day as usual. Later at night, I was peacefully cuddling into my man's arms. But a sudden slight wave of pain jolted in my body that I was wide awake and struggling the next second.
I felt too uncomfortable and some pain in my belly. I felt some movements in my belly.
I felt Vir's arms being removed away from me and his hands palming my cheeks.
"Madhvi.. What happened, love?" He visibly shivered.
It only lasted less than a minute. But what if my baby felt some pain too? What was it? I anxiously touched my belly with apprehensions about the child. I looked at Vir with questions over my head.
He just smiled in assurance as he touched my belly gently.
"Madhvi.. take a deep breathe. I'll give you some massage. I think it was a Braxton Hicks contraction."
"Means?" I asked.
"It is a false contraction that started occurring more frequently when you near the due date. It is something that happens you to prepare you for the labor. Don't worry darling. It is nothing to worry about. And I have asked you not to stand or walk for too long. You have to be conscious, love."
I sighed and nodded. He gently kissed my forehead. I hugged him while he gave me a good massage. The perfect partner in every ways.
I slept after a few minutes and I don't know when he slept after me or did he even sleep or not?
