"Just a little spot I like to go to," he hummed, giving her a cheeky smile.
"Why?" she asked, wondering what kind of plan Mason could have up his sleeve.
"I just want to spend some time with you," he shrugged, "That's all."
He didn't even notice the blush forming on Y/N's face. She turned to look out the window, trying to hide her face.
After a couple of minutes into the ride, the girl rolled down the window, wanting to feel the nice breeze on her face. It was quiet for a moment, and Y/N and Mason let the silence between them settle comfortably.
During the ride and the light conversation between the two of them, Y/N found herself becoming more and more attracted to Mason. She wanted to run her fingers over his arm or intertwine her arm with his at that moment. She didn't do anything because she didn't want to cross a line.
She didn't know what was happening between her and Clarke. But the last thing that she wanted to do was give Clarke mixed signals. And it would be too embarrassing for Mason if she discovered she had feelings for him but he didn't.
The ride ended up being about an hour and a half, and Y/N grew more and more confused about where Mason was taking her. After seeing a couple of motorway signs, she figured out she was in Portsmouth. Mason's hometown.
When the two of them arrived and got out of the car, Y/N looked around in confusion, wondering why Mason brought her to a random lot.
"There's a food festival that my parents used to bring me every year when I was younger. I thought it'd be nice to go." Mason smiled, looking at Y/N with an interesting look.
"That sounds amazing," she said as she adjusted her bag on her shoulder.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I've never been to Portsmouth before, let alone to a food festival." She replied, and although the two of them hadn't known each other long, he could hear the truth and excitement in her words. That put him very much at ease. The two of them had to walk another five minutes due to the closed streets because of the festival. It wasn't as packed as Mason expected, which he was grateful for.
