"Yes, Y/N. Come in." He quickly motioned, feeling a bit of the cold weather nip at his face, making him shudder for a bit. He could only imagine how she was feeling, standing outside with nothing but the sweater she was wearing.
He closed the door behind him and quickly ushered him to his sofa. As she sat down, João quickly walked to the other room, coming back with a thick blanket in his arms. He wrapped around the girl's shoulder, making sure she was warm.
"No, no. I'm fine, João." She shrugged off the duvet, the Portuguese player only frowning, placing the blanket back on her shoulders.
"No. It's so cold outside; I don't like it." He said he was making sure the girl was comfortable.
Y/N was too tired to refuse, only nodding and accepting the cover. João took a seat across from her on the ottoman, his hands intertwined in front of him as he rested his forearms on his thighs, leaning forward.
"What happened?"
His eyes tried to meet hers, but the girl was still hesitant to meet hers. João sighed quietly to himself, scratching his head to try to think of something that would cheer her up.
"If I knew you'd cry because I didn't eat the carrots, I would have eaten them." João joked, smiling to himself as he noticed a small grin break on her face.
Y/N couldn't help but giggle, her smile slowly coming and fading.
"See? Now you're laughing." He pointed it out, feeling slightly pleased with himself. "What's wrong, querida?"
Y/N shook her head, feeling a bit guilty for invading his space. She wasn't the one to show up. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come."
"No-no no. It's fine." He waved his hands in front of him, ensuring that the surprise visit was okay. "You're just scaring me a bit."
"I just saw someone bad from some time ago, and I got scared and left." She explained, looking down on her lap.
"Did he hurt you?" João asked, "Are you hurt now?"
"No, no. I'm fine now." She smiled a bit, trying to give some reassurance.
"Okay," he nodded. "Should I call Mason?"
João was quick to slip out his phone from his pocket, already pulling up the footballer's contact.
