"𝐈 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒 𝐘/𝐍," Bukayo sighed, his voice filled with longing as he sat at the edge of the pool, his feet dangling in the cool water. Mason floated aimlessly on a float nearby, while Jack juggled the soccer ball, unaware of his friends' saddened expressions.
"Why did she even leave?" Jack finally spoke up, his curiosity getting the better of him. He realized he never got a clear answer from Y/N, just a simple goodbye.
"Hey Mason, can I talk to you?" The girl spoke, feeling nervous suddenly in front of the football player. Mason turned to look at Jack and gave him a nod before standing up from his seat.
Y/N smiled and turned around, walking into a private section of the pool deck where Mason followed behind.
"Yeah, what's up?" Mason asked as he entered the room, his voice filled with curiosity.
Y/N sighed and turned to face him. "I'm going back in two days," she replied, her tone tinged with sadness.
"Oh, to see Chris?" Mason questioned, thinking of their mutual friend.
Y/N shook her head. "No, I'm going back to England."
Mason's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What? Why, what happened?" To be fair, he felt it coming. Y/N had been distant lately, and he couldn't figure out why.
"I just don't um—" Y/N hesitated, struggling to find the right words.
Mason's concern grew. "Did something happen?"
Y/N bit their lip nervously before admitting, "Uh, Clarke and I broke up."
"Oh," Mason responded, his voice filled with understanding. On the inside, he wished that he was screaming and jumping for joy. But he didn't feel happy at all. Yes, she wasn't with him anymore, but from the looks of it, he could tell their breakup was definitely from Clarke's end.
Y/N nodded, their eyes downcast. "Nothing against you, Mason. I just don't feel like being here anymore."
She really loved being in Qatar. All of Mason's friends were so kind and nice, and she loved spending time with them. But on the other end, she felt suffocated. As much as she wanted to stay here, she craved the comfort of her own space.
Mason took a step closer, placing a comforting hand on Y/N's shoulder. "I'm sorry," he said softly."I know you're playing France in a few days, but I should go."
