𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐃. The England squad makes their way off the coaches as they near the lockers. Mason adjusted the headphones on his ears, moving them to his neck as he maneuvered around the stadium hallways. He was walking in front of Declan as the team approached the locker room, getting ready for the match.
In the stands, Y/N quickly found her spot, took a seat, shrugged off her jacket, and revealed the England jersey she had on. She giggled while adjusting the jersey on her body, thinking about the tiny argument she had had with Chris earlier at the hotel.
"Why can't you wear my jersey?" Chris complained, holding up the American jersey for the girl. Y/N shook her head playfully, feeling as stubborn as ever.
"Christian. I'm English! I can't support my country," she chuckled, holding the England jersey in her hand instead. She flipped it over to reveal the number 19 on the back, followed by Mason's last name.
"Why did you get Mason's last name on it?" Chris pointed out, noticing his teammate's name on the back of his friend's jersey.
"I figured I should get his since he's the only person I'm close with on the team." She shrugged, removing the jersey from the hanger.
"Okay, I'll let it slide," the American spoke, holding his hands up. "But you have to wear mine at our next game."
"Fine." She agreed, reaching out her hand toward Christian and shaking it briefly. She knew it was going to be a bit weird, an England fan sitting in the middle of a sea of Americans, but nonetheless, she didn't mind.
Y/N waited patiently, slowly growing in excitement as the players made their way out on the pitch for warm-up. She was quick to spot Mason, passing a ball back and forth with Conor. She smiled and refrained from yelling out his name, not wanting to make a scene.
Her eyes made their way across the field, glancing at all the players on both sides. She took a couple of pictures of Christian warming up with his teammate. The American was quick to spot the girl in the stands, sending her a subtle smile.
Soon, the players went back into the tunnel to get ready for the match. After waiting, she cheered upon seeing both sides reemerge from the tunnel, wearing their respective kits. Y/N clapped along with the rest of the fans, glad to see both of her friends and coworkers take the field to start the match.
When the starting whistle blew, Y/N felt her heart begin to race. She could barely contain her excitement, seeing both Chris and Mason on the field. She felt happy to see Mason in person; seeing him was like a breath of fresh air. It was a lot different than their video calls; she was actually watching him play again.
