The trees lashed and crashed against each other like drum sticks in the hands of a giant trunk.
He lifted his face, letting the light and shadow dance across his skin. Roaring of lion followed by the hiss of snakes was heard accross the eerily silent forest. He inhaled the minty smell of the eucalyptus leaves and continued on, delighting in the sound of his feet sliding through the leaves.
His power of smelling blood helping him recognise the dead beings lieing accross the forest. His own hands red from blood. He crunches his nose at the distasteful smell.
He runs through the forest, jumping off the logs lying dead between his path. He stopped dead in his tracks, ears busy trying to recognise the direction of steps walking towards him.
A sharp edged sword swipes in open cutting through the air injuring the lion's throat. Blood oozes out of the lion's throat followed by a loud groan of pain leaving the lion's mouth. One more stab on his stomach made the lion fall on his back lying dead.
He took a deep breath before analysing his surroundings not finding any suspicious doing. He was done with hunting, now ready to inform his fellow hunters about the same.
The alpha closed his eyes, mind linking his hunters to follow the motion of the river flowing in the middle of the forest meeting the border of his pack.
He ran with the speed of light picking the now dead lion on his right shoulder.
On reaching the bank of the river, he crouched down wetting his hand in the water feeling its coldness. He washed his hands clean. The color of blood mixing with water flowing down the stream.
He watched how his fellow hunters too copied his actions, washing their hands clean along with the dirt on their clothes.
The alpha reached the packhouse everyone bowing at him with respect. Few gossiping and giggling among themselves. He went straight to his room, changing into a dark brown hanbok.
He walked accross the room towards the balcony leaning accross it staring at the moon. Moon being nearest to the earth was shining bright. The light he hates the most. The once bright light now bring darkness in the alpha's heart. The moon he once adored, respected now have become a nightmare taking away the only thing he could call his.
Alpha Taehyung stared at the moon, eyes sharp, gaze filled with hate. The moon had tried to talk to him but in vain. Although the moon was guilty of his doings he couldn't stop the miseries of the alpha.
It is not that he didn't try. He pleaded all the heavenly bodies, sculptures, galaxies but no one was ready to help. The moon wished to switch places with the alpha but he knew that that's not possible. His heart shattered breaking into small pieces everytime the alpha would stare at him.
He knew the alpha wished to ask him why he did whatever he did. The urge to blame him for whatever happened in his past life. But he knows the alpha well. He knows that the alpha was blaming himself for whatever happened.
Taehyung gripped the railing hard, knuckles turning white. His finger prints leaving prints on the railing.
The alpha turned back walking towards his bed taking a book from the rack beside his bed. He settled down on the bed with his back resting on the head rest opening the book to the page where he had previously left a bookmark in the form of a peacock's feather.
He grazes the fingers of his right hand accross the page before reading the contents. The book was written by a western author. Ink lightly spreading, dishevelling the other words.
The story was about a sailor who crossed the sea destroying each and every pirate ships coming his way only to reach the land opposite to the river that was now destroyed because of natural calamities. At least that was what the people who somehow were alive said. The sailor didn't believe them though. The sailor blamed the moon for the calamity that destroyed his family and his pack members.
Taehyung never rereads a book. He had his own private collection stacked in his room. His book collection was vast including each and ever genre. Once the alpha would finish reading a dozen of books, he would ask the council to distribute the books among his pack or to give them to the pack's library except for a few books he loved reading the most.
Alpha Taehyung sighed before closing the book he was reading from the past one hour. He sighed before.Lying down on the bed closing his eyes. He knew he won't be able to sleep. Infact he hasn't been sleeping after that incident which made him what he is today.
The very next day the alpha walked down the lane towards the court room announcing his tour to the west. The reason given was for buying some grains as the harvesting season was coming close.
When the alpha brought his horse out of his stable, he looked around sighing when he saw the sad face of his pack members. The pack members new that their head alpha isn't returning any time before the harvesting season which was around five months from now.
All the Phoenix's always adored and respected their head alpha because of his loyalty towards them.
Taehyung climbed on his horse, closing his eyes spreading calming scent accross his pack. It was his way of assuring the pack members his safety and health.
All the pack members bowed their head, their way of assuring the alpha about their health and safety.
"Taehyung is it necessary for you to go? Can't you send the soldiers to bring the grains from west?", a voice soft yet authoritative stoped him from moving forward.
"You know Namjoon I can't. I as the head alpha need to do it by myself.", Taehyung said not even looking at his brother.
"People of Phoenix need you too.", Namjoon tried to explain but he knew all will go in vain.
"I need to leave brother and I know that you will take care of Phoenix very well in my absence.", with that Taehyung left guiding his horse accross the narrow path between the houses of the Phoenix's.
"Did you send a letter to your Jin hyung? You know he is going to fret when he doesn't find you here when he returns."
It was Namjoon's failed attempt to convince the trueblood to no leave."Jin hyung will understand.", with that being said, the trueblood clutches the rein of the horse guiding him in his path.
Namjoon sighed looking accross the croud of people who had evident sad expression on their face.
All the Phoenixs only wished for their head alpha's well being that will only come when their head alpha finds his mate. The luna of Phoenix.
