Wyatt tried his best to wipe the sleep from his eyes while balancing his full breakfast tray in his other hand.

As of yet, the school had refused to offer a later breakfast for people that were actually out being superheroes as the school purported to be nurturing. This was nothing new. After two months of being greeted by a distinct lack of caffeine every morning, he didn't exactly expect it to change any time soon. But after his success the night before, everything seemed a little more doable.  Maybe if he asked Todd to ask about it. They would definitely listen if Todd said something. Todd didn't drink coffee but he might request it anyway if Wyatt asked. The world seemed much brighter than yesterday.

Dare he say that he had a spring in his step? Well, as much as one could have with no coffee. He let out a deep yawn.

The day before had been a long one and even after coming home, he still had had to go to the nurse's station to get bandaged up. Luckily, Mariah had sat with him while the doctor had cleaned the gravel out of his road rash and applied the antiseptic.

Well, maybe lucky was an overstatement but it had been nice to not have to walk back to the dormitories by himself.

Wyatt looked up to find where Amy was sitting and saw a zoned-out Gary Ghoul careening through the aisle. Wyatt hadn't noticed him until he was almost on top of him. Gary seemed to be lost in his own world, barely registering the world around him.

Wyatt managed to inch backward last second. His twisted legs ran into the table behind him (bad footwork, he chided himself) but he just managed to clear out of the other boy's path. Gary, for his part, didn't even seem to notice. Wyatt thought about speaking up but by the time Wyatt had regained his footing and the words had reached his mouth, Gary had already shuffled off.

It was odd seeing a celebrity on a daily basis. Everyone seemed to know that Gary was sick. There weren't that many students at the school and he definitely didn't know everyone, but it was hard to not notice Gary Ghoul of all people. He was the only person there that you could buy a bobblehead of. Wyatt thought for a moment about going after him but he wasn't really sure what he could do to help. Hopefully, the school doctors were doing something to help him. Heck, Wyatt wouldn't be surprised if the Ghoul ordered in some doctors specially. Wyatt couldn't imagine what life was like for Gary Ghoul. He was probably far too above Wyatt too. Wyatt was just a guy. Gary was a celebrity. A hero. Wyatt wondered what it would be like. What could he have to be worried about?

"Wyatt!" Amy called out. "Over here!"

Wyatt put Gary Ghoul out of his head and looked towards the table he and Amy usually sat at. Only the voice hadn't come from there. Following the sound of Amy's voice, he found Amy and Mariah sitting at a table against the tan brick wall of the cafeteria.

He was about to ask the reason for their movement when he noticed IT.

A coffee pot. An actual, honest-to-goodness coffee pot. Its wide glass bowl shape containing a dark brown liquid. He could see the chord snake behind them into a wall socket.

Oh, yes. Things were definitely coming up Wyatt.

"How did you guys get a coffee pot?" he asked as he set his tray down on the table.

"We asked," Mariah said.

"What, they just gave you a coffee pot?"

"We told them it was for tea," she said taking a sip from a white styrofoam cup.

"Can I have some?" he asked, trying not to sound too much like a child on Christmas.

Mariah handed him a cup and Amy poured him a bit of the steaming liquid.
