CARTER POV
I chase after Sarah into the woods. She passes a few people on the way and almost runs into them. They are probably the soberer one out of all of the people here.
Jonathan and Belle walk behind me keeping their distance. They are just as confused as I am.
"Sarah, wait for me." I try to grab onto her arm, "babe."
She leaps a run into the dark woods. The light I had just seen is gone and Sarah runs aimlessly throughout the area. I can't keep up.
Swinging through the kingdom at night...
The power behind her legs makes her run faster than I have ever seen before. It is like she has the supernatural power of super speed.
I only see you in the city light...
Wind curses by adding to her pace. I pick up my own and drive my legs faster, the three shots of vodka I took at the table are not helping. The warm liquid is catching up with the two beers I shot gunned.
Finally, I get to her and she has stopped in front of a tree bigger than I have ever seen... Wait, I have seen this before. The tree split on the other side is the same as we saw by the abandoned house when we did the run at last week.
"Sarah," I call out to her, but she doesn't respond.
Instead, she steps closer to the tree. I need to know what she sees and what she hears. Following her footsteps, I reach her and grab her arm to pull her.
She does not move, her feet glued to the ground. I can't make her move, I can't get her to hear me.
Her body becomes rigid and her hand reaches forward. It lands on the tree right in the middle of the split, I take all of my energy and yell at her to stop. She needs to hear me.
Without a single word or a single look, she falls.
Sarah's body falls to the ground with a thud and I reach her. Grabbing her in my arms, I try to get her to look at me, but her eyes are closed. Her breath leaves me paralyzed, there is nothing there.
Then her eyes open with an icy stare, and she turns her head around to look. There is nothing she can't keep her eyes on.
Jonathan and Belle come up and catch their breaths. I feel Belle squat next to me, "What happened?"
I hold her closer to me, "Sarah, look at me."
"Look at me, fuck!!"
They snap, "come on."
