CARTER POV

I walk around Green Tree park as Soran instructed me to. He said that no one would suspect to see me here or that they were even going to be looking for me, they assumed I had died in the last two years.

They aren't wrong, I did die a few times. My body has been rotting from the inside out starting with my brain and then taking my senses. When I got off the plane last night, I went to the bathroom at the airport and saw my reflection.

My brown hair was a dusty matted mess with dried skin flakes falling from my hair when I shake it like a dog. My pale skin was almost see-through that my veins were visible and my bones were coming back again.

Sarah helped me out of this once before, but she isn't here anymore. Her love and touch can't fix this, she can't fix me until I can fix her.

The path leading to my backyard is just on the other side of the park. The houses are still standing I think, I am not too sure anymore. Everything seems to be slipping my mind lately. It could be from the lack of sleep and food, but it could be because the entity won't allow me to remember.

Clouds fall below the sun and shade is cast over the park ground. The branches on the trees blow in the wind as the leaves crumble. Sun rays shine down over the dock standing out in the pond. Birds fly across to the other side.

Laughter brings my attention back toward the entrance of the park. A tall medium build man walks over to me and I see him wearing a black sweatshirt and dark blue jeans. His hair and face are hidden from the hoodie placed over his head.

"I caught the felony, but the judge let me leave," he chuckles.

Halfway over and I can hear him almost mumbling something to himself. He sounds like a broken record.

"I got the money and the time now," It is like he is talking in riddles, "with my brother now."

The man gets to me and stands off to the side. His hands are stuffed in his pockets as well as his chin in his sweatshirt.

Along the gate at the entrance, a Mercedes pulls up and the front passenger side window rolls down. There isn't anyone other than the driver.

Is this a setup? Did someone know I would be coming?

The tall man clears his throat, "I will bring you to him."

Keeping my head straight, I close my eyes and think of the mission. The purpose of coming back here to Maine is to talk to Soran about the entity and his possession. He is the only one that knows what to do.

The man still doesn't move when I pull away from him, instead, he turns the other way and pulls the hood of his sweatshirt down. His hair is buzzed short with a neck tattoo on the side of his neck.
