Chapter 49- Warning Shots

Three chapters in one day... Holy shit, I am on a roll.

It's not because I am freaking out inside and wanting to release some pent up energy or anything... 

KYLIE POV

"You girls are doing okay, here?"

About two hours ago, Sarah brought home a strange man I have never seen or heard of before. Her father shows up to find her at Yellow Bike's and she brings him back to our apartment.

She insisted that he come to the apartment and meet me. Her eyes are blinded my the loss of her mother, the cheater of a boyfriend, and the whole ran away from killers thing that she needed some sort of normalcy. Nothing about this seems normal to me.

"Dad, we have been on our own for a month now and we've been on our own for a while before that." Sarah grabs the plate from in front of him and brings it to the sink. She made him a sandwich, "I know. I just worry about you."

As if nothing has changed, they are in a routine.

"Kylie, how exactly did you get mixed up in all of this?"

He watches me set my phone down on the table, "I met Sarah and Carter in Grass Valley a few months back."

"I was possessed by the entity, it used my energy to feed, and it made me in a coma state." Sarah informed him that she explained everything to him at the coffee shop, "Jonathan was trying to kill us and we didn't know it yet."

Sarah gives me a look of annoyance, "Kylie was locked in the darkness with me."

He hums, "must have been scary."

I grit my teeth together not trusting him, "it was scary. There was just no answers that could clear up any information until later on when Sarah and Carter both left for Hawaii."

"Excuse me," I grab my phone and go to my room to get ready for work.

My work is the same coffee shop Sarah and her dad met at, Yellow Bike Coffee Shop. Belle and I worked here together when we first got here, then she and Carter left us for South Dakota. No call or text to the managers said she was leaving.

I was asked about it and I told my manager she abruptly left and was not coming back, which was true. She did, however, contacted me and told me that they had a weird encounter with a car following them the other day. I asked Belle how she was doing and if Carter has said anything about Sarahm but she was quiet about it. At least she still cares if we die or not, Carter seems to have his mind made up.

It is getting slow now, we are only going to be open for thirty minutes then we close up. There is an errand I need to run after work in Superior. It should only take about twenty minutes. Five minutes to walk there, ten minutes to pick it up, and five minutes back to Duluth.

Sarah knows I have to go to Superior, she offered to come with, but with her dad here, I told her to stay.

There is a guy that sells sleeping pills on the other side of the state line. Since Sarah has nightmares constantly, I figured I would deal one for her to help her sleep at night.

They are called warning shots. It is a weird name for a weird pill, but I have heard good reviews from online sources. The out your unconscious mind in a dream state, the conscious part of your brain is disconnected until you are awake. It is a risk to take them if you have trauma responses, but Sarah will do anything to make them stop happening.
