CARTER POV
In the bed of his truck, Jonathan is acting hysterical.
Belle explained the whole ghost thing. She can see and feel them. Her power is not as strong as Sarah's, but he gets the point.
I light another cigarette and look out among the stars in the sky. Little specks of dust it seems like, we are among the unknown, and that alone scares the shit out of me.
Alone is one way I would describe it, though. There is so much shit out there that we don't know, a ghost for one of them. Sarah is such a good girl, her power is strong enough to take down an entire negative energy... A demon.
Likewise, her power is so strong that it attracts the most powerful demons known and unknown to man. She bottles it up and waits to let it out last second. That is why she is where she is.
All of the energy is bottled up and to keep it in, she needs to downplay herself before others. Then when she can't contain it anymore, poof.
"So you are telling me, Sarah can see ghosts and you can see ghosts." He repeats the same thing, "I don't believe you."
"Let me explain," I say through a breath of smoke.
Tapping the bud off the side, I throw it in the grass. Rubbing my hands together, I get ready for the big explanation.
"Think of it as this, in a world with no end and no beginning, there are things existing in time." I play out what Sarah told me a few weeks ago, "energy builds up in space, our space, and then forms into beings."
"Those beings could possibly be from residual energy or they can be real spirits. If they are real spirits then their soul can go either way." I stop for a moment to let him digest this information, "residual energy, what is that?"
Wasn't he listening?
"Residual energy is when a negative or positive influence happens and they energy created from that stays together," I tell him.
Belle nods in agreement, "it also could be from past events that we people, who are alive, think about."
"The more we think, talk, or take action about creates more energy." Jonathan closes his eyes, "so how does any of this have to do with Kylie or Sarah?"
She shakes her head, "I am lost on this too."
"Carter, do you know anything?" I want to tell her, but I am not sure I can trust her, yet.
I need confirmation from the entity before I say or do anything. It still isn't around and I can't feel it near. Sarah must have it with her, I am glad about that.
