"Cmon you know this one"
"Uh.. a fiddlehead?"
"Mm close, goblin thistle "
"I don't get how you can study these plants, it's bullshit"
"I'm a botanist it's my job " she chuckled.
Diane kept her head down to the plant sample sitting on the desk, observing it through her microscope. Nick sat on the chair next to her, focusing more on her than the plants. "Your mother ever grow any flowers in the garden on earth?" Asked Diane. "No. She grew some vegetables but gardening wasn't something any of us did". Replied Nick in his calm focused tone. "Hm, what did you do then?". "Well I'd go out driving with my friends and we'd chill on a field somewhere, could go bike riding too, there was endless things really". "That's it? No teenage rebellion?" Diane smiled the way she said it, Nick smiled looking at her. "I was a pretty decent kid, think the most rebellion thing I ever did was get in a few fights but that was it". Turning her chair to face Nick, Diane put her hands on her lap. "You? In a fight? I can't see that". She ruffled the fur on his head between his ears. "Hah hah, that's just because you've never seen me in a fight". "Mm your right, your always so well behaved for me" she chuckled. Nick's tail had been wagging the whole day sitting with Diane. Nothing filled him with more joy then being with her, the only person who seemed to truly accept him as a person and nothing less.

"Cmon you know the rules I gotta have you in your quarters by ten".
"I'll walk him there, no need for the guns and armour jack" said Diane.
"I'll walk with you to make sure your safe
Ma-am, he's four times your size y'know, and strength..".

"Mm yet I feel safer with him then a thousand RDA soldiers, isn't that right bud?"
Nick leaned down to her with a smile, "that's right doc" hands in his pockets as the three of them walked down the hallway.
Upon setting Nick in his room, the door closed and the doctor and officer stood outside. "They'll turn the boy into a killer Diane"
"I know jack, I know."
"So stop wasting your time trying to teach him about pandora, it won't change him in the end"
"It changed grace, she was into something about the forest"
"Grace got killed going rogue Diane"
"Doesn't change the fact the RDA's in the wrong about this, if I can keep studying I'll find it".
"Have a good night Diane"
"You too jack.."

Nick moved away from the door and onto his bed, arms together under his head looking up at the bunk bed. He knew his path, destined to fight alongside the RDA as a war dog, nothing more nothing less, a faithful canine with special abilities they couldn't copy and clone like the avatars. Last of his kind, destined to die out. Nick could imagine what the RDA would turn him into, he frequently thought about it. A bruised cut up warrior fighting to the death because of orders from an upper rank, losing any humanity he had and only had the beast within him as a new being. Nick figured if it was all too much he'd just get himself killed in the least painful way. To Nick his life was meaningless and gone anyway, this didn't bother him, but it bothered Diane. Every day that he would tell her the new fighting techniques the marines trained him to know, each day that he painfully got bigger and she'd create pain meds from the plants artificially grown in her lab, even the first day she saw him wearing the mask in human air. The boy that was so nice to her would eventually become a cold blooded killer. Nick never dared try and hug her out of fear he'd crush her, always so careful he was around her, and protective, the increase in size made her seem like she needed the protection like a abandoned baby, but it was the other way around. The wolf was an abandoned animal left with nothing and no one, taken in by a human eager to have an apprentice.

But as good things come they also go, this was a mere memory in his head as he laid unconscious as prisoner.

"Hey.." "hey!"

Shaking his head, Nick woke up back at the Na'vi home base, this time he was locked in a closed room, and no protection of his primitive form. Nick had let himself get distracted, and ultimately that would of got him killed had Jake not have a smarter plan.

Twitching his ears Nick looked at the avatar in front of him, an ugly nose and long face with his eyes spaced apart. Squinting his eyes,"Fuck your ugly.." muttered Nick as he yawned. Norms ears twitched down as he put a bowl of water to the wolf's mouth. "Not thirsty" again he muttered.
"Your gunna do a bit of talking I'd suggest you drink up" in the corner stood Jake with his arms crossed. "Shit...". "Your a lycan with the RDA, I heard about you back at bridgehead, why'd they pull you out of cryo?". Asked Jake. Nick let out an annoyed sigh,"They wanted to put me in a special division you could say, to hunt you down specifically, a wolf with a bunch of dead fucking recoms, delusional." As Nick scoffed and turned his head away. "Recoms?" Asked Jake. Norm chimed in, "they had a special program for the soldiers in Quaritch's unit. Backed up there memories and personality in a soul drive so when they died they'd upload that in the avatar and have them do the dirty work of an experienced marine.". "I remember quaritch mentioning that back at bridgehead, So why did they want you?" Asked Jake. "Fuck I don't know? They wanted to use me as there hunting dog, ask the General in charge of the whole shit and smoke her ass while your at it." Nick laid himself on the floor despite his hands and legs being tightly tied up. Jake tilted his head in confusion. "Who's the new general?". "Some chick with a caffeine addiction, I don't know much more". Norm was standing next to Jake with his arms crossed, they both kept there gaze on the wolf. "Your with the RDA's special unit and that's all you know?" Asked Norm. "They don't tell me shit I'm just expected to follow orders, you gunna shoot me now or what?" "Shoot you?" Said Jake.
"Yeah, look I know you got guns so shoot me in the head, I've still got wounds from an officer loading his mag in me earlier". Neytiri came staunching into the room with her bow drawn and aimed it at the wolf. "Demon! We see how you grab this!". Nick's ears twitched, looking up at the angry Na'vi woman, he sat himself up tilting his head at her. Kiri came through the door not far behind Neytiri. "Mother, father, you cannot kill this animal please". Jake calmly walked over to Neytiri and put his hand over hers lowering the bow. "It's alright, we're not killing him we're just asking questions baby girl"

"But you'll kill me after" smirked Nick keeping his head tilt. "Are you gunna be a problem?" Asked Jake. Kiri walked over to the wolf and started untying the ropes attached to him, he glanced at kiri then back at Jake. "But I tried killing you?". "Kiri said she saw something in you, I trust my kid, but try anything you'll get that bullet in your head"

"Alright, I guess I get another baby sitter up my ass?". Kiri finished undoing the ropes around the wolf, she stood up next to him and looked at her father. "Neteyam and kiri will be with you", "jake.." Muttered Neytiri as she looked at him, he looked at her with his calm eyes, slightly he nodded, Neytiri lowered her ears and backed up next to her mate. "Thank you father" breathed Kiri. Nick glanced up at her with a wag of his tail. Kiri leaned and grabbed Nick's arm, "come" she said. Nick cautiously sat up and glanced at Jake and Neytiri before walking out of the door. "Where are we going kid?" Asked Nick. Walking through home base to the edge of one of the cliffs, a multicoloured Ikran with yellow and green patterns glazed around her eyes. Kiri attached her queue to the Ikran and climbed on, she reached her arm out to the wolf, "come". He took a step back, lowering his ears and questioning himself. "You want me to ride on that?" Turning his head slightly with a confused expression. "I want to show you something, so come"

Grabbing onto her arm and climbing onto the ikran, Nick sat himself closely behind Kiri, she grabbed his hands and wrapped them around her, "hold on or you'll fall". Looking down the cliff Nick realised just how high they were from the ground, it sent shivers down his spine, he let out a huff and a brown looking away from the cliff closing his eyes. "Outstanding.."
kiri held onto her ikran, saying a word in Na'vi the ikran turned and dived down the cliff taking off. Nick held on tight behind Kiri.
"Shit! Shit! Shit!"
