Lexi stood, her hands on her hips, staring at Tony. She let out a breath and shook her head... 'No, I didn't know. I'm sorry Tony, I really am, but that wasn't him..'
Tony scoffed at her, scrunching the paper in his hands... 'How can you say that? It was him, wasn't it?'... Lexi saw him direct his question to Barnes on the floor and he took a step forward. She put herself between the two men, putting her hand out, stopping Tony.
'If someone came to kill Banner, because Hulks actions killed their parents, what would you do? What would you say, huh?..'.. She asks, watching him.
'That's different Adams..'.. He sneers at her, balling his fists.
'How is it different? Why? Banner has no control over what Hulk does, but he has the memories of it. You think Banner doesn't feel the guilt over it all? The pain?..'.. She pushed Tony back a step... 'The only difference between Banner and Barnes, is the fact Hulk was created from a wrong experiment. The soldier was created from years of torture, experimentation, continuous memory wipes and conditioning..'
She pushed him back so he was against the work bench... 'I get it Tony, I do. You want someone to blame, so blame Hydra, I did..'
Tony frowns at her words, and she sighs, looking back at Barnes... 'I was told my mother died in childbirth, but she was killed a few months after I was born. She was an ex SHIELD agent who retired. An old friend of hers asked her to take up a recon mission, and she found Intel on Hydra. They sent someone to put her down..'.. Lexi looks back at Tony... 'I don't blame him for it, because it wasn't him. It was them. Be thankful you actually had a life with your parents, I didn't..'
She turned back to Barnes, crouching down to him, holding onto his hands... 'Hey Alpha, I need you to look at me..'... She gave him a soft smile, leaning in to kiss him. She felt him come back to her, as he returned her kiss. She pulled back, cupping his face... 'Come on, let's go to our room..'
'You're not staying here..'.. She pulled him to his feet, and turned to Tony, walking over.
'Yeah, we are. We'll talk about this later, right now my concern is Barnes. Jarvis..'... She called out.
'Yes Agent Adams..'...
'Unlock my lab. Call the team down here, Tony needs them...'.. She looks at Tony again... 'Tell them everything. But we are not leaving...'
She turns to Barnes, taking his hand and led him from the lab. The two rode the elevator in silence to their room. Once they were inside, she shut the door, locking it. Stripping herself off, she walked to him, kissing him slowly, before pulling back... 'Give me the pain, I want everything James..'.. She stares into his eyes, her voice full of compassion... 'Let it all go with me. I'm here, I got you..'
She pulled him back in for a kiss, feeling his body tremble from his memories. She kept kissing him, as her thumbs brushed away the tears that escaped him. She felt his hand grip her waist tightly, as he struggled to let it all go.
'Please James..'.. She whispered against his lips... 'Let go with me..'... She felt his hands slide down to the back of her thighs as he lifted her, moving to the bed. His kisses turned hard, and angry. She knew he would be rough, and she didn't care. Over the past month, she had come to fall in love with this man, and she would do anything to protect him, even from himself.
