Waiting - Chapter 45

"Where are you staying?" I ask, my head heavy from tiredness as I check the time and realise the time is 2:45am.

"Just at a hotel a few blocks away, that's where we're al staying," He says, his hand on my lower back as he guides me through the maze like trailers.

"So can I stay with you tonight?" I ask, tucking a stray piece of hair behind my ear.

"Of course you can," He smiles, kissing the top of my head, "I assumed you were anyway," We continue walking before he speaks again, "And you're staying for more than one night, no questions," He says in a serious tone.

"No, it's fine, I've caused enough havoc already, I can just go home,"

"Which home?"

"London," I smile, grabbing his hand and swinging our hands in between us, "And I seriously don't want to get in the way so I will just go,"

"I don't want you to, what if something happens to you?"

"Nothing will happen to me,"

"You're still not going," He says, looking down at me and shaking his head.

"We can talk about it tomorrow," I say as we get to the gate with a line of cars ready to drive the cast back to the hotel.

"Come to bed, Jess," I hear Jamie call from the bed as I finish washing my face in the bathroom.

"I am, just wait a second,"

I thread the towel back onto the towel rack and switch the light off before stumbling over to the double bed.

"Took your time," He mutters with a smile on his face, switching the bed side lamp off.

"My apologies,"

"Come here, there's no way that you're getting away from a cuddle," He smiles, wrapping his arms across my stomach and resting his head on my shoulder.

My hand finds its way to his hair and I absentmindedly brush the strands with my fingers.

His hand moves from my hip to my abdomen and pauses there, acknowledging my pregnancy in a silent way.

"Well, if I'm not allowed to leave at least get them to give me a job," I say, sitting at the bench seats in the hotel room, waiting until the car gets here to take Jamie, well us, to the set.

"Alright, I'll let them know," He smiles, "But nothing too strenuous,"

"Why not?"

"I don't want anything to happen to you," He says, motioning to my stomach, "Or the baby," He says, trailing off his words and only barely mumbling the word 'baby'.

"The what?" I chuckle as he looks up at me and sighs,

"The baby,"

It's obvious that the word brings him some sort of discomfort but he doesn't shy away from saying it the second time.

"Are we keeping this a secret for a while?" I ask, and he nods, looking at a glass as he fills it up with water.

"I would say until you start showing," He says after setting the glass back on the bench, "Just incase,"

And I nod, agreeing that it is a good idea.

"We'll have to go to the doctor at some point too to get further testing done and ultra sounds and all of that," I say as Jamie's phone buzzes to say that the car is here.

"Let's go," I smile, grabbing my bag in one hand and Jamie's hand in the other.

"I love having you here," He smiles, "two months is too long for me,"

"I know how you feel," I smile, "Hey, you know how we were just talking about doctors appointments?" I ask as we enter the hallway.

"Sure do,"

"I might have a look around here because I really want to make sure it's okay,"

"What's okay?" Robbie asks, jogging to catch up to us and Jamie and I look to each other.

"Nothing. Girl stuff," I chuckle,

"That's what I have to put up with,"

"I don't want to know," Robbie says quickly, shaking his head as we walk into the elevator, "So you're coming to the set?" Robbie asks and I nod,

"Hopefully I can actually do something and not just sit around all day and night," I say as we arrive at the lobby and see the car waiting outside.
