Chapter 6.

6. Found her.

I saw Carol coming towards the camp with tears in her eyes. "Carol?! Are you okay?" I hurried towards her and she wiped her tears. "I'm...okay hun.." She said as she tried not to cry and I saw where she came from and saw Daryl. "Motherfucker..." I whispered, and Carol looked at me. "No Y/N, it's fine really!" Carol tried to grab my hand. "No Carol, that's not okay." I gently pushed her hand and made my way towards Daryl. I've always been protected of Carol since she was like a mother to me, so seeing her like this broke my heart.

He saw me and knew what was going down. He kept walking and I caught up. "What did you do to Carol!?" I yelled at him and grabbed his arm, "None of your damn business!" He angrily said and pushed my arm away. "Of course it is! Now what did you do to her?" I said trying to caught up to him since he kept walking. He didn't answer, "Daryl."..."Daryl answer me right now!"... I was behind him and I tackled him, I was on top of him.

"Get the fuck off stupid girl!" Daryl angrily said as he tried to get me off and I grabbed his arm. "Just fucking answer me!" I yelled at him, "Carol lost hope finding Sophia!" He yelled, I stayed quiet waiting for the rest, "...I said some things." I got off him and he sat up not looking at me. "Happy now." He scoffed. We both sat on the grass, "She cares about you. I know you want to find Sophia-" "you don't know shit." "Shut up and listen."

"I know you want to find her, but you can't be hard on Carol. I get what she means but she really does care about her. You can't just blow on her, she's just mixed with emotions. She loves Sophia and she cares about you. You shouldn't be hard on yourself you know." I said and looked at him. He didn't look at me, only looked at the ground.

"We all care about you Daryl, stop being hard on yourself." I said as I got up and held my hand out to him. He didn't say anything, he hesitates but grabbed my hand and got up. "You should go talk to her." I said as we head back to the camp.

"I will..thanks" he mumbled, I smiled and nudged him with my shoulder. "Anytime Daryl." We both parted ways and I saw Daryl talking to Carol.

I went to the RV and saw Glenn, "No hat today?" I asked him as I head up to him. "Uh yeah..." "Let me guess, you guys are still fighting." "She's mad at me..." I sat next to Glenn, "Yeah, I can tell. Is it about the barn?" And he nods, "If I were her, I would be pissed." And he looked sad, "but I see your side, I love Maggie but Glenn you did the right thing, Maggie will see that just give her time. She really likes you." I said as I pat his back and he smiled at me. "I really like her too, thanks Y/N." I smiled at him and climbed back down.

"What's up Nursey?" T-Dog said and I went towards him, "Hey T! How have you been doing." "I've been alright, you?" "Been good, just busy as usual." "Hah..yeah. How's you and Shane?" "Been awkward but I'd say we're okay now? Maybe friends, still getting there." "Hopefully things go well-" T-Dog got cut off by Shane who started handing us guns.

"Come with me." He said and he started heading towards the house where everyone was. We followed him and he started talking about protecting ourselves and going to the barn, Maggie and Lori started to argue with Shane."Oh shit." T-dog said and we saw Rick guiding zombies towards the barn with Hershel and Jimmy. We all ran towards them.

"What are you doin'!" Shane yelled, "Shane just back off!" Rick said and Shane started to yell at both of them saying how the walkers are dead and he started to shoot at the walker. I jumped and Carol grabbed my hand. Shane had lost it and killed the walker.

I grabbed Carol hand, Shane started heading towards the barn. I saw Hershell on his knees and felt horrible. Rick was begging Hershell to grab the walker but he didn't respond. How did it end up this bad, it was just going well. Shane started to break open the barn and everyone started to yell at him to not do it.

He broke it opened and a bunch of walkers came out, I pulled my gun out just in case and the rest started to shoot. I couldn't shoot because it felt so wrong. Carol was behind me and I kept her close to me. They shot every last one of them, or so I thought. When one came out, a girl..a little girl. It was Sophia. I dropped my gun in shock and Carol ran towards her but was caught by Daryl, she started to cry and yell Sophia's name.

I started to tear up, feeling sorry for Carol. Everyone trying to find her when in reality she was here the whole time. I went towards Daryl and Carol, and Daryl looked at me, his eyes sadden. I went to hug Carol and she hugged me back, Rick shot Sophia and Carol hugged me tighter, sobbing. I started to cry and patting her back.

"I'm..so..sorry Carol, Shh...I'm sorry mama.." I said as I hugged her, and she kept crying. Daryl started to pull Carol up, and she didn't let me go. "Don't look..Don't look." Daryl whispered and she pushed away from both of us and walked away, i was going to follow her but Daryl grabbed my arm and shook his head. I looked back at Carol and wiped my tears away. We all just stood there in shock.

I looked at Beth who was crying, and Jimmy hugging her. Beth went towards her dead mom, and was grabbed by her now as a walker, everyone ran towards her and Andrea killed the walker. We were all separated, Shane, Rick and Glenn followed Hershel, Beth, Maggie and Patricia. I stayed with Andrea.

"I can't believe she was here the whole time..." she said as she covered Sophia up, i grabbed her shoulder, "I know...I'm sorry.." she grabbed my hand and softly smiled. "You can go find Carol..I'll finish off here.." she said and I thanked her. I made my way towards her RV and saw Daryl come out and shook his head, i ignored him and entered.

She looked at me and looked back at the window. I sat next to her and lay my head on her shoulder and grabbed her hand. "Im sorry mama..." i played with her hands and she rested her head on mines. "I know..." she whispered. "Can I be alone...?" She softly asked, "of course." I said as I let go and kissed her head and left.

I saw Daryl and made my way towards him. I stood next to him, "I-" "Dont." He said and we both stayed quiet. "I know how much it means to you..finding her." "It doesn't matter now." I grabbed his arm, "Daryl. Don't bullshit me, you did everything. Everything to find her..I'm sorry..about everything." I said and let go of his arm slowly and he didn't say anything. I pat his shoulder and made my way to the house.
