Chapter 10: The Fatui Harbinger

What could possibly go wrong when you just want to go on a walk at Windrise? That was what Kuni thought before he told Kazuha to take care of his domain for a while. A little walk could never be so bad. What could possibly go wrong? Oh how wrong he was. Now here he is panicking about seeing the ginger he met at lantern rite. 'What is he doing here?!' Kuni thought before turning around to go back to his domain. Childe must have heard him run because if he didn't there wouldn't be footsteps behind him.

"Hey, wait!!!" He heard from behind. He increases his speed a little until he reaches his domain. He quickly enter and closes the domain door before he ran up the invisible path to his floating island. There, sits kazuha blowing on a leaf. He looked up to see a panicked expression from Kuni. "Woah, what's up with you? You looked like you just saw your mom with a flip flop" he asked. Kuni started pacing around "this is even worse than a flip flop" he said. Kazuha just looked at him and asked what's wrong.

"Everything is wrong!!" He yelled. "Then why don't you start from the beginning?" Kazuha suggested. "I-" he was cut off when he heard the domain door open. "Hello? Kuni? Are you here?" He heard the intruder asked. That is without a doubt, Childe's voice. He started panicking again. "What should I do, Kazuha?!" He whispered-yelled at Kazuha, trying to keep his voice as low as possible. "Well first thing you gotta do is tell me who that is, and then you talk to whoever that is. Is he your boyfriend?" Kazuha teased. Kuni was so ready to slap the living heck out of him but before he was able to he heard Childe says "are you here? Kuni? You know I will just keep searching for you if you won't answer." Childe said.

The Anemo holders looked back at each other before Kazuha forced Kuni to answer. "I- I'm here!" Kuni said, loud enough that Childe could hear him all the way down there. Childe lit up "Can you come down here?" He asked. Kuni looked panicked again but answered anyway. "Sure in a moment." Before he grabbed his weapon just in case there is trouble. Kazuha gave him a thumbs up before reassuring him that he won't burn down his domain. He walked down the invisible path and saw Childe in a distance. He walked up behind him and poked him. Childe turned around and smiled brightly.

"There you are! I've been searching everywhere for you! You ran really fast I couldn't keep up!" Child exclaimed. Kuni smiled and just shook his head. Really anyone could go that fast if they train. "Let's go outside, yeah? Let's go on a stroll" before Kuni could decline he was already pushed by the arm on his shoulder to move. He looked behind him to see Kazuha giving him an encouraging smile while patting a cat. Wait, since when was there a cat in his domain? Oh well, might as well let it be.

"So," Kuni said. Childe looked at him while smiling, signalling him to continue. "What are you doing in Mondstadt? Is it work purposes?" He asked. Childe look back on road. "That's one thing yeah. But there is another reason. I've been looking for them everywhere." He said. Kuni looked at him. "Who? Maybe I can help. I remember everyone I met." Childe stared at him and then chuckle "Nevermind that, now let's go to the city. I'm hungry." He started picking up speed. Kuni followed right behind him. The arrive at the bridge that Kuni would always be swarm with pigeons.

Kuni greeted the little boy that would always stand there feeding the pigeons with a smile before they started walking into town. "You know, you're really nice with kids. I would like for you to meet my little siblings one day. And I just know you will get along with the older ones as well. Mama always cook the biggest feasts whenever one of my older siblings bring their partners!" Childe continue rambling about his family while just listens. "What about you? Do you have a little sibling as well?" Childe asked.

"I guess you can say I have a sister. Though I'm sure she doesn't even know I exist." He hesitated. Childe gave him a sad look. "Oh is that so? Well, it's ok. You can have the feeling of a big brother once you meet my little siblings!" Childe said. He laughed before nodding. After they order food and eat which is mostly just Childe eating while Kuni taking little bites of everything, they take a walk back to Starsnarch cliff. Kuni was glad that there wasn't any trouble in Mondstadt. Barbatos already has enough on his plate. He doesn't need more.

The sun was setting when they arrived at the very top. They sat down and stared at the sunset. "You know," Childe started "I was so happy knowing that you kept the hair pin." Kuni looked at him. "Ho- how did you know?" Childe smiled at him. "When you were running I noticed a hair pin falling out of your hair. When I picked it up, I realized that it was the hair pin I gave you." He took out the said hair pin and tuck it in Kuni's hair, gently. He caresed Kuni's cheeks. Kuni leaned into the touch. "After you left hurriedly that day, I knew I just had to find you again, no matter the way, no matter the change. I want a partner that get along with my family so well that they would favor them more then they favor me. A partner that would always listen to others problems and a partner that would stay by my side." He said. Kuni stared at him in disbelief. "So, Kunikuzushi" he grabs both of Kuni's hands before he continued. "Will you be my boyfriend?"

Kuni was beet red. There were tears coming out of his eyes. Big fat tears. He wrapped his arms around Childe's neck and hugged him before whispering "yes, yes I will". Childe wrapped his arms around his waist and hugged him tight. There were tears coming out of him as well. "You have no idea what I did to find you" he whispered. "I'm so happy right now" they finally pulled apart. They stayed there until the sun was completely out and the moon rises.

"I must go back now. Thank you for everything today" Kuni said, standing up. "Let me walk you back, it's dangerous at night" Childe said, also standing up. Kuni wanted to decline but he Childe already hold onto his waist and started walking. Not to self taken, never try to decline Childe. They walked in silence until they reached his domain. Before he went in, he went to Childe, grabbed his face and kisses him on the cheek. Childe flushed red and smirked. "Only on the cheek? Why not the mouth,hmmm?" Kuni covered his face with his hands.

Childe chuckled while watching Kuni enter his domain. After the door of the domain closed, he went back to the inn he was staying at. Kuni entered the domain, still red. He ran up the invisible path and saw Kazuha washing his sword in the water. Kazuha looked up and smiled "hey, how did it go?" He asked. Kuni put both his hands on his cheeks that are still red. "Amazing" was the only thing he said. Kazuha squinted his eyes at him. "Judging by how red you are, that must mean" he gasped. Kuni nodded, now more red then ever. "Congratulations!!!" He congratulates Kuni.

"So when's the wedding?" Kazuha asked. Kuni perked up and slapped him with full force "Ouch!!" Kazuha shrieked. "That hurts!!" "Serve your rights for teasing me!!" Kuni yelled. "What are you doing here anyway? You have your own domain." He asked. "I like it here better" he said. Kuni rolled his eyes. "Whatever, I'm going to train. Don't forget to sleep. He said before he entered the little pond and swim straight down to train. He went to his room and change to proper training clothes. He took out the hair pin and stared at it while blushing. Before putting it in a luxury jewelry box. Then he went out to enter the training room.
