It was the day they return to Mondstadt. Kuni didn't expect for their stay to be a whole week but hey, who doesn't love a vacation once in a while? Kuni was wandering in the harbor doing Celestia knows what. He stopped at the sights of kids playing around. He smiled 'kids are too pure for this world. If only they can stay innocent' he thought.
He began walking again and saw a toy shop. He then remembered the little boy he saved not too long ago. He wonders how he and his mother are doing now. ' I'll buy him a toy and pay them a visit' he smiled at the thought. He walked to the old lady asking for a toy. "There are many toys here, why don't you take a look and ask me about it?" The old lady said. Kuni took a look at some of the toys. Something caught his eyes. It was a weird shaped paper with sticks stuck to it.
The old lady saw this and chuckled "That is a kite, a traditional toy from hundreds of years ago. It is said that it is a gift from the goddess of dust to her dear friend, the god of freedom." Kuni looked at her "Can you tell me how it works." The old lady can't help but smile and continues to explain. "Oh, so that's how it works" a familiar voice said. Kuni shrieked and turn. "Haha, sorry did I scare you?" Childe said. Kuni sighed "you startled me, not scared me." "Is that so?" Childe said while smirking.
"It very much is so" Kuni said, huffing. The old lady chuckled. "Ah youngsters when they are in love are so refreshing to watch. It reminds me of me and my husband when we were young." Kuni blushed. Childe felt his cheeks burning up. "We're not lovers" they said. "We barely even know each other." Kuni said. The lady smiled "right, sorry for the mistake. Now then, are you interested in buying the kite?"
Kuni nodded and was about to pull out a pouch of mora but then "Can you get me one as well? I'll pay for both." Childe said while giving the old lady a pouch full of mora. Kuni looked at Childe with wide eyes while Childe just smile at him. The lady took another one and gave it to him. She was about to count the mora to give balance before Childe stopped her. "It's ok, take the change." He said. The he took Kuni's hand and started walking.
"That was nice of you to give the remaining of the mora." Kuni said. Childe smiled "It was nothing, I like helping people". They continued to walk in silence. "Umm- you can let go of my hand now." Kuni said, his cheeks tainted with pink. Childe looked at their hands, seeing that he is gripping the blunette's hand. He let go of it immediately and started apologizing. Kuni chuckled and reassured him that it was fine.
Liyue shouldn't be this windy, so why has the wind been picking up lately? Kuni came to a conclusion that it was Barbatos. Perhaps an archon's presence in another nation will affect the nation. Childe felt the wind getting stronger. He took of his coat and put it over Kuni's shoulder. Kuni looked at him with wide eyes. "I don't need this. I'm fine in the cold." Truth is he doesn't even feel the cold but he didn't want the ginger to be suspicious.
"No it's okay, I insist" Childe said. "But I-" a loud gasped cut him off. He looked at the direction of the sound and saw Barbatos and Xiao with their eyes and mouth wide opened. Oh no, what were they doing here? Did they see Childe gave him his coat? He is so going to be teased once they arrived back at Mondstadt by Barbatos! The silence was loud, Childe not understanding what was going on decided to keep quiet.
With their eyes and mouth still wide opened like a cave, Xiao slowly grabbed Barbatos's shoulder and quickly teleported. Where to, he doesn't know. Kuni took off the coat, gave it to Childe and quickly ran from the harbor. He ran to Wangshu inn knowing well that's where they probably teleported to. When he arrived he fly up to the balcony and was met with Barbatos and Xiao looking deeply in thought.
"IT WASN'T WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE" Kuni yelled. "Kunikuzushi, when were you gonna tell me you have a boyfriend?" Barbatos asked. "He's not my boyfriend, Master! He is someone I met on lantern rite!" Kuni explained. "Is that the person who got you flustered on lantern rite? I never knew that you could have a spouse when you meet someone so quickly." Xiao said. Kuni flushed red "THAT'S EVEN WORSE THAN BEING A BOYFRIEND!" he yelled. "And besides I'm sure we're just friends" he said.
"Kuni sweetheart, have you seen the way he looks at you? I swear if you look closer, you could spot hearts in his eyes." Barbatos stated. "I am in no possession to say this but, even I know that's how mortals look at their lover" Xiao said. "You both are exaggerating. There's no way he would like me in such a short time." Kuni said. "Kunikuzushi, Xiao just told me about the boy he took interest in, it was love at first sight and I'm pretty sure that's what he went through." Barbatos said.
"Master, i-isn't it time for us to get going to Mondstadt now?" Kuni said, trying to change the topic. "Oh you're right, it's almost 7 and if we don't start moving soon we won't be able to eat dinner." Barbatos said. Barbatos excused himself to say farewell to Morax. As soon as he took flight, Xiao looked at Kuni "so when are you going to introduce your boyfriend to us?" He asked, with a teasing tone. Kuni now, as red as a tomato, looked at him and yelled "HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND"
Kuni looked away from Xiao still red 'though, I wouldn't mind if he was' he thought. Barbatos soon arrived and said they can start heading back now. "Farewell, Lord Barbatos. Have a safe trip back to Mondstadt." Xiao said. Barbatos gave a smile and Kuni waved at him. They soon started walking until the reached Stone Gate.
They soon started chatting with each other, like how he is thinking if he should build a palace for him to live in like the cryo archon or just live in his domain just like Morax. Kuni suggested that he should just live in a domain. Barbatos agreed, he has never ruled before so looking back at his fellow archons, he was unsure on what to do.
Once they reached Kuni's domain, Barbatos wished him goodnight and took flight for his own domain. Kuni entered his domain and took of his sandals and socks. He dipped his legs in the pond, released a sigh of relief and said "Home sweet home."
