"Mmm, boba tea is the best!" I said while drinking my boba tea, the flavor of mango invaded my taste buds. "Well, can't agree more .." Seraphina replied. Suddenly we hear the news about the death of X-Static one of the famous vigilantes that started appearing after unOrdinary was published.

"People are wasting their lives without a real purpose," Seraphina said. "Hey, they are fighting to keep us safe!" I replied while being a little angry by what she said. "Do you feel safe now that he is dead?" Seraphina said with confidence. "No, but at least they are trying to help most of the high tiers abuse their power for their selfish ambitions!" I replied then I realized what I said because her face looked a bit saddened.

"Look, I'm not talking about you but not everyone is willing to accept weaklings like me .." I said to clear things up. Silence took over a bit but I decided to change the subject. "What did you think about that guy?" I said.

"You mean Grey? He seems cool but there is a lot of mystery about him .." Seraphina replied. "Now that I think of it .."

[FLASHBACK]

"I'm waiting for my sister to walk home with her .."

BEEP

"That's my cue .."

"Why would he lie about that?" I thought. "John? Are you okay?" Seraphina said raising an eyebrow. "Uh, yes I'm ok I just spaced out a bit," I replied. "Well we should leave it's almost 5 PM I promised elaine to go shopping with her around 6 PM so I should go-" Seraphina said before being Interrupted by the Waitress screaming we look at her seeing a masked man holding her neck in his hand. "GIVE ME THE MONEY OR ELSE!" The man said while choking the air out of her.

I launched at the man giving him a punch that knocked him to the ground, I heard someone saying that he will call the authorities but before I could check on the lady my leg was penetrated by a black nail, The man who I had knocked to the ground was up on his feet while his ability being active and there were black nails around him. "He is dangerous!" I thought.

Suddenly I see the man was sent flying and Seraphina standing in front of me with her ability active. "Stay down .." Seraphina said in a cold confident tone that can make any normal person tremble with fear However, whatever attack Seraphina used against the man wasn't strong enough to knock him down as he stood again ready to fight. "Out of my way girl! or I'll have to kill you!" The man said launching 3 black nails at Seraphina.

[THE MASKED MAN]

I launched 3 nails at the girl to knock her down but in a fraction of a second, my nails were destroyed. "She didn't even move?" I thought while starting to feel nervous. "Your wasting your time." The girl said with a look of confidence. "Ugh, you asked for it!" I said my anger increasing I summoned a group of black nails and launched them at her but again without making a move my attack was destroyed.

"How is she doing that?" I thought but before launching another attack I heard sirens indicating the arrival of the authorities. "Damn it!" I said while I started to run out of the store.

"That guy is done for." I thought while looking at the man's weak struggle against Seraphina. But the authorities arrived so the man tried to escape but before he could Seraphina knocked him out. I went to check on the lady "Are you okay miss?" I said. "Yes, T-thanks for helping me." The lady said weakly.

The authorities took the man and they had to give us some questions and they let us off, Seraphina went back to the girl's dorm and I went to the infirmary I got scolded by the doc but he gave me a tonic and I went to my home since the wound in my leg wasn't that bad it healed fast.

"Today was weird but thank god Seraphina was there, I can't imagine myself using my .. ability," I said while in bed and I fell asleep.

- The next day

"Ugh, I feel like shit .." I said while walking in the halls heading for my class but as I was walking I bumped into someone making me fall to the ground, I look up and see a hand being stretched out to me I took it and it turns out I bumped into Grey. "Careful John, you need to focus on where you are going or else you might bump into an idiot and get badly hurt," Grey said. "Thanks for helping again Grey, and sure I'll try," I replied.

"Where are you heading?" Grey asked. "Oh? To Egypt of course." I said with sarcasm. He tilted his head a bit with a somewhat Innocent look. "But why tho?" He said. "Bruh, it was a joke I'm going to class," I replied. "Oh, ok I was heading to my class too but you are a third year so yeah we can't walk together see you later .." He said while walking away. "Goodbye!" I said while starting to walk too.

After class was over I was walking through the hall when I found a poster with names on it I realized it was a fucked up game people were guessing who will die of the vigilantes. "These fuckers!" I said while my blood started to boil. After walking for a while I saw a kid stepping on some paper and another kid begging him to stop, I couldn't control my anger anymore I launched at him and gave him a punch in the face knocking him down then I lifted him up he charged a beam thing but I sensed it and parried it and hit him again in the face but I stopped as I remembered vague images of my past. I walked away but before I can go I sensed an aura behind me I looked and saw the kid I left charging a beam at me the beam hit my arm. "Ugh!" I screamed from the pain. I went on a fighting stance but before I could do anything I saw two black beams hitting the kid in his knees making him fall to the ground.

When I looked at the source of these two beams I saw a tall girl with white hair and black eyes and I instantly knew she was the sister that Grey was talking about. "Stay down or else I'll crush you." She said with confidence that could rival Seraphina. "So they have an emitter-type ability that can launch beams? but Grey didn't use that when he attacked Gavin or do they have different abilities? No that is very unlikely .." I thought while still in shock. "Are you okay?" The girl said while walking toward me every step she took was well-balanced and dominating the kid that was hit by her fainted from the pain. "I'm okay, my arm wasn't hurt that badly," I replied.

"Good, I heard that you are a friend of my brother .." She said. "Uh, yes I met him yesterday and we became friends .." I replied. "John is your name am I right?" She said. "Yes, that's me and you?" I replied.

"I'm Ashlyn pleasure to meet you... " She said.
