The next morning Rick was the first to wake up. Just like any other morning, he felt Moon next to him, hugging his arm. Immediately everything from last night came back to him.
The man looked at his boyfriend. Moon looked so innocent and peaceful sleeping with his lips puckered out, his head resting against Rick's shoulder. He felt Moons light breathing against his skin.
How anyone could treat him so poorly, so cruelly, astonished Rick. The world has been so evil to Moon. And he deserved none of it. The scars that covered Moon ran deeper than his skin.
"Dada." Judith got his attention. She was sitting up in her crib, wide awake looking right at them. Rick wanted Moon to sleep some more. But when he tried to sit up, Moon held him tighter.
A small pout naturally came to his face in his sleep. Rick tried to gently wiggle his arm out of Moon's hold, it woke the sleeping man up. "Stop, m'trying to sleep." He muttered tiredly, his eyes still closed.
Rick smiled, feeling Moon's hand slide into his own. "Judiths up, I think she's glaring at us." They both glanced over at her, she was frowning at them. "Ahh!" The baby yelled, slapping her hands against the crib mattress. Trying to get them to get up.
Moon laughed a small laugh. The man let his body slide off the bed onto the ground. Judith giggled as he looked at her through the crib net. Rick watched them, a smile adoring his face. Their daughter pressed her face against the net, Moon poked her cheek.
Rick moved off the bed, sitting behind Moon. He wrapped his arms around the man's waist. Leaning back against Rick's chest, Moon sighed. "How are you?" The older asked lightly as they watched Judith play with her stuffed animal.
The man didn't know how he felt. Talking about his past brought up a lot of emotions. And he didn't know how to feel. It was a relief to finally get it all out, but it was also draining. Like it opened up a different chapter for him, his son. Moon was on his mind now. He felt like he could finally think about him freely. Before he never let himself, too guilty and ashamed.
"I'm sad." Moon whispered honestly. Though he still smiled for his daughter. The taller man nodded, placing his forehead on Moon's shoulder. "I'll hold you." Moon needed nothing more than that.

A meeting at Deanna's house brought everyone together. They crowded her living room. Moon sat beside his brother on her couch, Maggie was on Glenn's other side. The youngest was relieved to see his brother felt better. Moon was still quiet but doing better.
A group that had been gone for the past few weeks came back yesterday. They mentioned a large herd, growing in size near Alexandria. Apparently, Deanna already knew about it but didn't know what to do to fix it.
So she left that to Rick. The woman gave him the power to hold a meeting and form a plan. Moon had to applaud her strength. She just lost her husband, but she was still standing strong.
"My team... we saw it early on, back when we were on one of those first scouts. Finding out what was around here. There was a camp at the bottom. The people, they must have blocked the exits with one of those trucks. Back when everything started to go bad. They didn't make it. They were all roamers. Maybe a dozen of them."
Heath, one of the members who returned that morning spoke. He stood behind Glenn and Moon, the brothers listened but couldn't see him. Maggie was able to turn sideways to look at him.
"No one's been back since?" Maggie asked, he shook his head. "DC, every town worth scavenging are all in the other direction. And I never really felt like having a picnic next to the camp that ate itself."
