Moon didn't need to ask why his husband was smiling so hard, he knew that smile. He rolled his eyes, glancing at the new magazine Rick found with a huff. "I don't know why you like those things so much. I don't even look like that anymore." The man found it cute at first.
His husband always got so happy whenever they came across anything with his face on it. Seeing Rick's smile was always uplifting, but the collection of magazines has gotten ridiculously large. Moon couldn't even remember taking half the pictures Rick has obsessed over.
"You're so handsome, even more handsome now. I don't know how I got so lucky." Rick shook his head in amazement, his smile turning playful as he looked over at Moon. The former sheriff raised his brows, looking his partner up and down with a mischievous little glint in his sky blue eyes.
Moon squinted lightly, narrowing his eyes at the look his husband sported. "We're in public, Richard." The short man scolded in a hushed whisper, shooting a glance back at the people following behind them.
The museum provided them with enough seeds to feed them until next spring. The farming equipment could be remodeled and used to keep the livestock at Hilltop healthy. And the large wooden carriage two horses were pulling would save them the gas they just barely had.
After Ezekiel fell through the shockingly thin glass floor, everyone agreed it was time to go. The sun would set in just a few hours and the trip home would take more than half that. Today was a win, and Rick was in a good mood because of it.
The leader chuckled, reaching down to slide the magazine into the saddle resting on the horse's hip, right beside his right leg. "I didn't say anything. You just have a dirty mind, my love." Rick's teasing brought a grin to Moon's lips. He sighed, unable to resist the charm his handsome husband had so effortlessly.
"And you say I'm a brat." Moon rolled his eyes before offering Rick his hand. The older man nodded, fitting his fingers between Moon's with a satisfied shrug. The younger man raised their connected hands and brought them to his lips.
Moon pecked the tanned skin no less than what he deemed appropriate, four was the usual but he went for five today. "I'm the one who got lucky." He swore, looking at Rick with nothing but the utmost respect. He stared at Rick like he hung the stars, and in Moon's eyes, he did.
It made Rick's face soften, his playful smile grew into a loving one, and his fingers squeezed Moon's lightly. "Then I guess we're both lucky... It's special, you and I. What we have, we're exceptional." Moon's eyes lit up hearing this, he chuckled, using their connected hands to direct their horses just a little closer together.
"I married a poet, didn't I? A cowboy, cop, and a poet? I got the whole package." The younger man again brought their hands up to show his love. Rick nodded his head, keeping his hand in the air when Moon tried to let their limbs fall. "One more? Just one." Rick tilted his head softly, his plea earned him some much needed attention and pampering.
"Gag." Their youngest son muttered, shaking his head at the sight just a few yards in front of him. Moon Jr giggled quietly, looking up from his book to watch his dad and stepdad act like schoolboys in love. "We are gagging." The older brother agreed with a quick nod and a bit more giggling before turning his eyes back to the thick book in his lap.
Carl sat with Enid at the front of the wagon while Moon Jr sat behind them. The older boy used the open seating space beside him to hold his backpack, his lap held an incredibly thick book about time travel. The young couple in front paid no mind to his constant snapping and tapping, having gotten used to it by now.
