Moon tried not to move as the doctor pressed his fingers into his side. Glenn stood beside the chair he sat in, his hands wrapped in white bandages. "Well, this certainly isn't good." Dr. Carson muttered, writing something down on a notepad.

"Can you fix him?" Dwight had a hard time looking at Moon. He focused on the doctor, trying not to imagine what happened the night prior. It was all people could talk about. Sure, they've seen things far worse but Moon didn't look like he could hurt a fly.

The people who weren't at the lineup had no idea he could be so violent. His face was so innocent and misleading, when they saw him being pushed into the circle they all assumed the same. He would be dead within minutes- seconds even. Austin's missing eyeballs were proof of their misconception.

"He'll heal naturally with time, though it will be very painful for the next few weeks, months probably. I can give him pain relievers but it won't be as strong as he needs. You'll have to ask Negan about anything stronger. It's a wonder he can still walk a straight line." Dr. Carson wrapped a bandage around Moon's waist.

Moon whined when the doctor tightened it. Sounding weak didn't even cross his mind he was so tired. Glenn silently patted his back in support, not a word left him since last night. The first life he's ever taken was to protect his brother.

Austin's brother's name was Tim. Glenn learned that after he had already killed him. He beat the man to death right after Moon killed his brother. It was tragically poetic.

"Don't worry, Negan'll take care of you." Carson gave Moon a sympathetic nod, finishing his work. Moon didn't have the energy to give a snarky comment back, he felt like he'd been hit by a bus. Dwight forced him to walk to the office, which made him feel worse.

Glenn tried to help but every time he touched Moon it hurt too much. Moon didn't know what his brother did after he passed out. He didn't remember Tim attacking him, he just remembered it all went black after Austin fell off him.

Glenn didn't know how to tell his brother what happened, what he did. He knew Moon never wanted that for him. He wanted Glenn to be kept away from doing such awful things. It would break him to learn his brother did it for him.

Being a big brother has been who Moon is for a very long time. Protecting and shielding are big parts of the responsibility. Moon never grew out of the role, even as they got older. He's done everything he could to make sure Glenn didn't have to do the things he's had to do.

It made Glenn feel bad, not weak but bad. Moon did things for him, things no one should have to do. And he never expected anything in return, he didn't even like the thank you's given to him.

Glenn thought he would hate himself after taking another's life. But he didn't. He protected his brother, just like Moons always done for him. Glenn didn't feel guilty or remorseful. He was more like his brother than he thought.

Moon dragged his feet into the room he and his brother were led to. Negan smirked as the brothers walked in. "Howdy boys." He made himself known from his spot on the leather chair in the corner of the room.

Hearing his voice made Moon groan. Without much thought he sat on the couch Negan had in his room, his eyes immediately falling shut. Dwight went to move him, fearing Negan would find the disrespect and act on it. But the tall man stopped him with a chuckle.

"Jesus... you look terrible." He commented, Glenn felt the need to protect his brother. Moon didn't seem aware of the real danger he was in. So Glenn stood beside the couch, making sure no one could get to Moon.

Moon didn't answer, his head slowly falling to the side as sleep began to take him. Moon slept a full twelve hours before Dwight woke him up. The hits to his head had a role to play in his fatigue.
