Wind was blowing in gusts through the streets of New York City, cloud patterns hiding the pleasant looking blue of the sky, making the city appear all tiring, dispiriting.
Especially this day, the unpleasant weather was causing old emotions to bubble up inside her as her legs slowly carried her across the graveyard.

A few years had passed since the Battle of New York had ended, leaving the city as well as its people, including her, in an undescribable chaos.

Her cousin had died that day. She'd been five.
Her life had all still been ahead of her when the Chitauri bombarded her home, blowing her up along with it.

She'd been her light on days filled with darkness, parting the curtains of the shadows with her enchanting smile. Without even being aware of it, she'd saved her from the grasp of depression. Simply with being a child, too innocent for the issues of society.

What had happened to [Name] after her cousin's death was predictable, yet her friends and family had faith in her beating the seemingly endless sadness haunting her. At first, it had appeared to be impossible.

Then she met the man who once attacked New York City. He was now pacing next to her, his steps long and slow, the flower bouquet he loosely held in his fingers bopping with each of them.

Once he had found out about the gravity of his actions for people that had been strangers to him when the attack happened, an impending guilt continued to rise inside his heart that ached so bad for [Name].

He felt responsible for her cousin's death, long before he had heard all the stories of her unconsciously helping [Name] escape her depression for at least a few moments. He felt guilty for her depression getting even worse before she allowed him to support the only person he truly loved with all of his heart since the minute he'd laid eyes on her.

They stopped in front of a gravestone littered with flowers, next to a bouquet of white roses a stuffed animal sat, its fur messed up from the wind devastating the peaceful atmosphere of the graveyard.

Loki kneeled in front of the gravestone, scanning the letters carved on its grey marble before placing ever so gentle his very own bouquet of carnations next to the stuffed animal.

[Name] perched down next to her lover, spotting the tears threatening to spill as his glance was fixed on the inscription. Though she was close to tears herself, afraid a single word would cause her voice to break, she attempted to be strong and grasped his cold hand, causing him to look at her.

His breath shuddered as he started to speak.

"Even if I tried, I couldn't describe the guilt... and how incredibly sorry I am. You had to stay strong for so long, and if I wouldn't have been... you would've very probably had it easier. I am aware these, those flowers, aren't much, I just feel like... it's the least I could possibly do."

His voice broke as the last words left his lips, tears now making their way down his cheeks, dripping onto his coat.

An almost inaudible sigh escaped her lips before she pulled him close, burying her nose in his raven hair as his arms looped around her torso.

The grief she felt because of her cousin's death after all those years hadn't minimized a lot, yet she'd found a new special someone during her very own journey of healing. Loki.

She'd realised, the mind control, the tortures, Thanos. Loki had been out of his mind when the Chitauri had attacked the city under his commands back then. He was a different person these days.

Though her cousin wouldn't come back, no matter how many flowers would be placed down at her grave, she'd forgiven Loki ever since his love helped her continue to beat her depression step by step.

He was her new spark of light.
