CHAPTER 14- BUT JUSTICE
"Lesia?"
"Where are you?" kaswal kong tanong.
"Nasa office lang ako. Bakit? May problema ba? Nasaan ka?"
"Nasa kuwarto ko lang. Uhm, may kilala ka bang Therodore Ledezma?"
"Yes, but he already passed away two years ago. He was also an attorney like me."
This was what Kuya Racerze had hoped for in the past. My brother wasn't born a psychopath. The world simply turned cruel to us, shaping him into that.
From a young age, he had to endure the loss of our parents. He felt the need to seek justice and, above all, protect me from SAO.
I'm not excusing my brother's actions because, no matter what he went through, it couldn't justify killing.
But I couldn't bring myself to hate him either because I knew his background better than anyone else. I understood the reasons behind his actions. He was my sibling, not my enemy.
"Oh! Someone sent a message. Is it Ma'am Lynn?"
That was Kuya Racerze. Just by the way he typed, it was already too obvious. I just couldn't bring myself to tell Ace about it because I didn't want them to think I was just trying to cover up for my brother.
My parents died in front of my brother, and he died in front of me too. I wondered how I managed to watch them killing someone who had blood and flesh exactly like mine. Before his final breath, he smiled at me, at least.
That was when I realized how miserable his life had been. How he had tried to live normally, yet this cruel world kept pushing him to do something unjust.
Even though I desperately wanted to save my brother from the bullets fired by my comrades, I couldn't do it. It wasn't possible, and it wasn't right.
"I've got your back. Attorney Theodore's got a son in the Law industry too. I'll chat with Attorney Theorhys Ledezma and casually bring up his dad."
"Thanks, Gray. And hey, once this is all sorted out, I won't bug you anymore."
