Lando's POV
Where is it?
I empty the contents of my backpack all over the sofa in my drivers room for the third time after I got back from my media duties. The small ring box however seems to have vanished.
Where the hell is it?
I angrily stuff all the things I just put on my sofa back into the bag. I sit down next to it, trying to go over my motions. Where could I have put it? It has been safely in this bag for over a week.
And that's when it hit me.
Jon.
I quickly run out of my drivers room, trying to find my trainer. Some time after I saw that Aimee was attending qualifying, I made sure Jon would secure the ring. There was no way she was going to see it before I proposed.
I scan through the garage, where different mechanics are working on both mine and Oscars car. Although, there's not that much they can't change because of the parc fermé rules. My eyes land on Jona, one of the press officers we have. Maybe she has seen him.
"Jona! Do you know where Jon is?" I ask her and she quickly points me to the hospitality, clearly sensing the urgency in my voice.
I make my way over to our hospitality, quickly locating Jon in it.
"Do you have it?" I ask him, as I stand next to the table he's seated at.
"I do." He nods, pointing at his backpack. A sigh of relieve leaving my lips.
"Thank god, I thought I lost it."
Jon chuckles. "If you hadn't had me." I laugh with him, knowing he's right. I'm very good at leaving stuff around and without him I wouldn't be anywhere. But right now he was a real lifesaver.
I return to my drivers room, leaving the box out on the table so I can shower and change. We're having dinner with all the drivers before attending the concert, before I will propose. Although there's barely anyone I have actually told about the proposal.
Other than family members attending, and those who needed to know. Because of the stupid idea I had of doing this in front of thousands of people.
I just hope she accepts that.
After my shower, I change into a hoodie and jeans. The august heat not very present in the small country. I tuck the box back in my bag, knowing I'll be driving myself, I know I can grab it before entering the concert venue.
Oscar, Charles and Carlos are already waiting at my car when I approach it. "Took you long enough." Carlos chuckles as I set my bag in the trunk of the car.
"Had to pick something up first." I shrug them off, getting into the driver seat of the car. I check my phone for the adress of the restaurant, putting it into the gps of the car.
I back out of the parking lot, following the instructions of the gps to bring us to the restaurant.
"Mate, you're tense. What's going on." Charles chimes from the backseat as I'm driving into the parking garage near the restaurant.
"I'm just fine." I keep focused on finding a parkingspot. Making sure not to make eye contact with any of them, the look on my face probably giving away too much already.
"You barely said anything on the drive here. You're definitely not just fine." Oscar backs Charles, resulting in me releasing a deep sigh. "That sigh just confirms that there's something on your mind."
"Fine," I huff turning into an empty parking spot. "Charles go and look into the front pocket of my backpack and show them what's in there."
I watch as Charles opens the zipper, his eye going wide at what he sees. "Is this what I think it is?" Charles asks, before carefully taking the small ring box out of my bag.
