Everything is a competition when it involves Draco Malfoy.

We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Well, happy Christmas and the ball is here! As expected, I'm going with myself. Better bring a mirror and kiss myself underneath the mistletoe. I'm pretty bummed that I'm not at home with my parents, this is the third Christmas I'm missing out.

"No Adria, stop moving." Daphne styles my hair down and charms it to be soft, bouncy and curly.

To my horror, Pansy comes out of the bathroom with the most atrocious pale pink frilly dress. When I say frilly, I mean it. It looks like she got swallowed by layers and layers of curtains. She kind of looks like a cake. I burst out of laughter, Daphne hits me for moving.

Pansy sneers, "Whatever, watch when I laugh at your dress." She walks out the door with Milly who is wearing a bright blue dress.

"Whatever, watch when I laugh at your dress." I mock as they leave.

"Come on darling, we can't make everyone wait for us." Daphne pins a vine of golden leaves at the back of my head.

Tracey is already gone with Theo. They are going together as friends since he kept begging her to go with him as he didn't want to give any other girl "false hope". Blaise still needs to pick Daphne up, he's waiting in the common room.

I slip the dress on carefully in the bathroom. To complete the look, I wear a dainty gold necklace with a small circular emerald pendant and matching emerald earrings. My jewellery doesn't need to make its way to the public eye, my dress is the real star of the show. As Daphne sprays on her perfume, she giggles in excitement as she opens the door and makes her way to the common room. I follow her and her lavender dress.

As we walk, there are girls outside each other's dormitories and they all compliment me and Daphne. Some older boys are on the couch and waiting for their dates. The ball is only open to the fourth year and above, unless you get invited by an older year. That explains why a third-year is in his suit, sitting on a chair and playing cards with a fifth-year. Blaise is walking around and around, in a circle.

Strange way of waiting but okay.

I tap my foot on the floor, looking at Daphne and Blaise make googly eyes at each other.

This. Is. Disgusting.

"You know, if you're going to snog, don't do it in front of me." I cross my arms.

"You look good too, Adria." Blaise offers Daphne a hand, she takes it.

As I start to walk with them, I hear my name.

"You look good." Camden smiles coming next to me, I loop my arm through his. I don't know why but he's definitely a hundred times happier than he usually is.

It's a tradition for me and Camden to have our first dance together at a ball. Not a tradition that is forced upon us, it's a sibling tradition that Camden and I made up.

"You too." I notice that his face is more pink than normal.

Heather Laveau is outside the Slytherin dungeons and Camden's eyes pop out. Pig, piggy, piggy, pig. She giggles walking forward, sweetly complimenting me to which I reciprocate. Her hair is styled into a bun, a blue ribbon wrapped around it and her flowing dress takes the shade of cadet blue.

I let go of Camden's arm and push him towards her. Job, sorted. Laveau laughs before taking his arm. They should just get an understanding at this point. Scratch that, marriage. I walk behind them, admiring the decorations of the hallways.
