The third and final task.
Music is blasting from the Hogwarts band, bringing all of us into high spirits this evening.
The task takes place inside a maze meaning we as the audience will have no idea what is happening inside. The only piece of information we were told is that the maze is bewitched and that Professor Moody was the one to place the Triwizard Cup within the maze, the first person to touch it wins the game. The champions might struggle as this is also a mental test because the maze can trick you. Each champion is instructed to shoot red sparks into the sky with their wands if they get into difficulty and want to be rescued, so at least the schools care about safety.
All the champions line up one last time. Viktor Krum, Fleur Delacour, Cedric Diggory and Harry Potter.
"On the count of three," Dumbledore counts down giving signals to Filch, "two, one..."
The cannon goes off on time and accordingly. The band starts up again as the contestants start to cautiously go into the maze.
Daphne gives me a thumbs-up and sends me a wink before talking to Blaise and Tracey. Why did she do this? Well, I'm actually not sitting with her or the Slytherins.
I'm sitting with Cormac McLaggen.
He had invited me to sit with him and some of his friends which I gladly accepted. I can't have him get pissed at Malfoy, that's my job, and I want to be around him as I honestly consider him my friend. McLaggen has a good sense of humour, he's smart and we have a lot in common.
Okay, maybe not a lot, that's a stretch. But, we do have some stuff in common. Like uhh... Uhh... Whatever, I'll figure it out later.
Back to my point, Daphne sent me her creepy gestures because she thinks that this is a potential love date. I quickly shot down her idea a few hours ago yet, here she is, still at it. I'm pretty sure a date is in a more intimate setting. Or it involves more intimate actions like how Blaise has an arm around Daphne and how she's stroking his arm. Bloody hell. A round of applause to the grossest couple at Hogwarts.
Never mind, scratch that. Look at Camden and Laveau. Snuggling up to each other. Dearie me. What kind of disease is spreading around here, obviously, the new and undiscovered one where everyone seems to be incapable of keeping their hands to themselves. Then again, this means Laveau could possibly (cough cough, most likely) be my future sister-in-law. Props to Camden for finding such a lovely woman. Wait until I have nephews and nieces, I'm going to spoil them rotten.
McLaggen laughs in a lively manner to his mates, they had been conversing about the summer holiday.
"Where will you be going, Your Ladyship?" He asks.
"Not sure," I reply, "I've still got some time to decide."
"Come on, I bet you have a lot to do."
I probably do, but I have no idea because Mum and Dad never like to inform me of where I am going. I think they still have the mindset that I am an eight-year-old and just want to go on adventures. One second my limbs are on British soil and the next I'm packed for a trip to my death. Bit overdramatic since I'm not always on holiday.
I laugh, about to say something when a shower of red sparks catches my eyes as it appears in the sky.
In a matter of seconds, Delacour comes out from the maze.
Yes! I mean no.
Two against one for a Hogwarts champion, this should be easy.
Delacour looks shaken up and incredibly mentally hurt. I remember being on the Quodpot team in Ilvermorny for the Thunderbirds. We were against Pukwudgie. Whilst trying to get the Quaffle off this girl, I scratched her in the face. What I didn't realise is how vigorously I did it, I'm pretty sure she still has a little scratch on her face. Seeing Delacour's facial expression reminded me of that forgettable situation.
