Clean air fills my lungs. I take in the stunning view of the rocky location, looking out at the body of water that is more dark than blue or crystal clear.
What a classic lake, welcome to England.
It had been a little over a week since I started my daily life in prison (Azkaban number two). Mum and Narcissa thought it would be a nice idea to go out and have a picnic by the lake whilst Dad and Lucius went somewhere to discuss business.
Safe to say, it's rather nice.
I walk slower, admiring the place than the two parents who are gossiping about life and the two boys who run down to the lake together. I can not believe Camden likes Malfoy, he's meant to be on my side and yet he ignores the way Malfoy treats me.
"Go on Adria, go down with them." Mum points to the idiots. They look like they are skipping stones across the lake. "We will be here." She sets the picnic mat down.
Listening to my mother, I make my way to them. I have no interest in swimming today, the sun isn't out and I'm pretty sure the water is freezing, that's why I'm wearing a longer dress. Not formal, just a pink and white thin floral dress with ruffled sleeves. Then again, maybe this wasn't the best idea as I am scared I'm going to trip over this fabric and crack my head open on a rock.
"Look at who has decided to join us." Camden jokingly bows down. Malfoy boos as he throws another pathetic skip.
"Oh please, who are you booing at?" I cross my arms, standing in the middle of my brother and the ferret. "That skip was nowhere near impressive."
"Amaze me." Malfoy kicks a few stones at me. "You ought to be outstanding if you think my skills are poor."
"Ha, I'm much more than outstanding."
My eyes scan the small pebbles and stones below. Finding a good one, I slip off my flat shoes and pick up the smooth stone. Hooking it in between my index finger whilst my thumb slightly rubs the top.
"I might as well quit." Camden rubs his temple. He's never been good at sports or any activity that involves physical exertion. He's more of the smart type that has a deep connection with music. He does stay in good shape by maintaining a healthy diet and doing daily exercises. "She's going to make me look like a fool."
Narrowing my eyes, I stand at an angle and face the water. I flick my wrist and just like that, the stone is released.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, this is getting boring and oh, still going. Finally, it's gone.
"You were saying, Malfoy?" I tilt my head at him.
"Beginners luck." He scoffs.
"Hear that?" I put my arm on Camden's shoulder and he laughs. "Sore loser, can't accept that he lost to me. It's truly embarrassing when he doubted me."
Malfoy shakes his head in annoyance and he reaches the ground to get another rock. I assume he wants to prove himself but, he raises one of my flat shoes instead.
"What an odd-looking stone. I wonder how far it will go, don't you Rosie?"
"Rosie?" Camden asks.
"Don't question it." I walk up to the moron who is holding my flat, threatening to throw it. "Malfoy, don't you dare."
My palm is out, waiting for him to give me my shoe back and when he doesn't, I try to snatch it. But his reflexes are quick and I end up grabbing the air. He laughs, getting up on his tiptoes. I slightly lean against him, trying my best to get my flat back. I hear Camden's laugh playing in the background and it pains me to know that he doesn't think Malfoy will actually throw it. Not only are those shoes discontinued but they are also one of a kind because they were specifically designed for me.
