You hear the front door unlocking and items being placed on the kitchen table.

Life has its surprises, some bad

"Hey y/n," you hear Jenna call out. "You haven't answered my texts so I thought I'd pop in. I brought pizza."

and some... Great.

"I'm in the lounge." You call out from the couch. Your back against the arm rest as your legs outstretched on the seats.

"What's up? How was your day?" Jenna stands against the wall. A small smile on her face.

There are days I want to scream out my pain

There are days I want to scream out my pain...

"If you don't mind, I'm not really in the mood to talk. Is that alright?" You ask, feeling bad.

...and others, sit in the quietness of hope.

"Yeah of course. You know I'm good with silence." She nods, folding her arms. "Do you want me to give you some time alone?"

"No, not at all." You gesture to the couch across from you. "Sit with me."

Instead Jenna walks past the couch and pats your leg. "Make some space.

She lies between your legs. Resting her head on your stomach and arms wrapping around you.

You run your hands through her long wavy hair. A hint of jasmine fills the air.

She has no idea how much this means to you. Holding you like this in silence. No lies. Just letting your silence tell the truth. That today wasn't all that good. And she makes you feel like it's okay to not be okay.

But you bring the sun when you come...

The sunlight rests on her head after a few minutes and she quickly lifts her her head to look through the window.

"It's sunset." She turns to look at you. "Do you want to go out and see?"

You shake your head. "I'd rather look from here. But you can go if you want."

"I'm not leaving you." Jenna sits on her knees to see better. "The windows fine with me to."

You turn your head as the orange sky begins to fade from view. You look towards Jenna as she smiles slightly watching the horizon. She seems peaceful and you do to.

You turn once more watching the sun rests.

"I can never get tired of a sunset." Jenna says.

And even if people around me can drain me, I can never get tired of Jenna.

...Yet you make the dusk seem beautiful

"Tell me if you need to change your laying position. Or your feet is falling asleep or something."

"I'll let you know you. But for now keep holding me." You say.

Jenna looks at you before she leans and pecks your forehead. She makes herself comfortable again on your stomach.

"What was that for?" You ask taken aback.

"Don't question it. Just accept the love."

How do I even begin to explain my gratitude
That even when my love seems little
You bring enough for two.

You again find your fingers mindlessly running through her hair. She sighs deeply.

"If you keep doing that I'm going to fall asleep right here on your couch." She warns. "On top of you."

Stay a little longer
I want all that you have to offer
And I assure you I'll return the favour as soon as possible.

"That's perfectly fine with me." You say, finding your arms around her.

Author's Note

There was a real sunset through my window when I wrote this chapter.

And just a fun fact, the words in italics make up a poem.

Thank you for showing some love on my precious chapters. I appreciate it.
