"And what are we having? Coffee?" You ask Jenna from behind the till. She was still reading the menu from the screen behind you.
"Sure why not." Her eyes fell to yours again, clutching her papers a little tighter. "I'm sure the smell will keep me awake."
"Coming up." You nod, tapping her order into the system.
"I'll be at the booth at the back." She tells you before putting her face mask back on face and putting her earphones back in her ears.
You and Jenna wanted to spend some time together before she left for shooting. You were unable to ask for a day off so she offered to come to your work.
You were very hesitant on that idea. Simply because you were worried that she'd get recognised and not really have some time for herself or for you.
Jenna wanted you to help her practice some of her lines as she'd be starting as soon as possible when she arrives at the lot. You told her that you guys would have to do it in your lunch break and after work. She didn't mind at all.
After telling your coworkers you are on lunch, you quickly make your way to Jenna's booth. You find her nose buried in a book.
Jenna peeks from above her book, realising it's you, she places her bookmark in the pages.
"And how's the shift going? Surviving the soul sucking-ness of it?" She jokes.
"I'm surviving." You sigh. "I had a customer earlier telling me we gave her the wrong milk in her drink, yet she never specified which one she wanted."
"What'd you do?"
"We made her another because she was telling people that we were trying to kill her." You slide into the seat across from her.
"Having a 9-5 seems fun." She says with a hint of sarcasm.
"Not as fun as a 24 hour." You poke back. "But either way, I'm glad that you're here. Makes the day go a little bit easier." You smile.
You look at the papers on the table.
"How's the assignment going?" You ask, pointing towards her script.
"Reasonably ok. I mean, this isn't the most quiet place but I'm alright." She fingers with one of her rings.
"You hungry? I can get you a sandwich or a muffin?" You ask.
"A muffin would be great, thanks y/n." She smiles.
"Thanks again for coming over either way." You say as you stand up. "Just two hours to go then I'm all yours."
"Oh, I look forward to it." Jenna winks playfully.
"Jenna." You whine. "That little head of yours needs to get out of the gutter."
"Alright. I'll stop if you want me to." She raises her hands in surrender.
"Just get back to your work, Ortega.
"Yes ma'am."
You get back behind the counter and look for a good muffin to offer Jenna. Suddenly, you hear some argument close to the back. You begin to walk at a slow pace, to faster one the moment you see it's Jenna.
"Why not? I'm asked you nicely." The man argues.
"We have a problem here? Sir?" You ask eyeing him.
"Nothing that concerns you." He waves you off. "Don't you have some coffee to make or dishes to clean?"
"And shouldn't you be in the trash, where you belong?" You bite back, standing next to Jenna.
"Y/n-" Jenna's tone immediately tells you to calm yourself before you start a fight.
"Why don't you leave her alone. Clearly you can see is uninterested and and highly uncomfortable." You gesture to her.
"And taken." Jenna adds quickly, resting her hand on yours.
Your eyes go big slightly before keeping your cool. That wasn't part of the plan.
"I see." The man nods, his face clear with disappointment. "My bad. Can't blame a guy for trying."
"Just go man." You gesture to the door.
"Thank you, that guy was creeping me out." Jenna breathes a sigh of relief.
"What was that Jenna?" You ask.
"What?" She looks confused before smiling with realisation. "Oh, I had to think of something. Thank you for not ruining my plan by the way." She giggled resting a hand on your shoulder.
"I'm just glad he left."
"What a protective partner you are." She jokes. "I'm glad you're all mine."
"Quit it, Ortega." You warn, hiding a smile.

"Finally done." You say, zipping up your jacket before climbing into her car. "You still okay?"
"Yeah no worries." Jenna assures. "You finished everything? I don't want to be the one to blame for you not doing your job."
"Yes everything done and double checked. So you ready?" You ask taking her script.
"I think so." Jenna nods.
"Okay, who am I doing?" You asking looking for characters.
"Enid." She responds.
"Never heard of this character. Is she new?" You ask.
"Yes, she is and please don't ask me anymore." Jenna whines.
"Confidentiality agreement." You say. "I know."
You guys begin to rehearse.

"I find it creepy how you just go monotone like that. But then again you love creepy things." You say, giving the script back to Jenna.
"I was very hesitant to audition for this role, but hopefully it doesn't turn into a flop and that the viewers actually enjoy this new Wednesday." She rests her back against the car seat.
"Everything you do and put effort into, will be well received." You reassure her.
"You think?"
"I know." You respond. "You give your all. Whether it be stunts or screaming bloody murder." You laugh.
"Yeah, I tend to scream a lot." She laughs a bit embarrassed.
"You're making a name for yourself. I'm proud of you 'girlfriend'." You laugh, getting a playful punch from her.
