You wipe the sweat from your forehead as you sit on the bathroom floor.

"Yes, she's got dark hair. A little short. Her name's Jenna. She should have a book on her." You say out of breath, holding the phone to your ear.

After throwing up a few times, you decided to cancel your meet up with Jenna. The only problem was that you never got her phone number.

"I'll tell her. So she'll be here about two?"  The cafe manager and also your friend asks.

"Yes. Thank you again." You groan before ending the call. You didn't want to talk anymore. Your body felt like it was dying.

You already start to make yourself comfortable on the mat.

You wake up after a quick nap, feeling weak after hearing a knock on the door. You sigh, not wanting any visitors.

You struggle to get to your feet before heading towards the door."Who is it?"

"Jenna" you hear the familiar voice on the other end.

"Jenna?" You ask, confused. "Didn't you get my message?"

"I did. That's why I'm here." She answers. "Look, can you open the door? It's kinda rude to leave a guest outside."

"Sorry, it's just I don't want you to get sick."

You unlock the door to find Jenna wearing a surgical mask.

"I heard you live alone

"I heard you live alone. And viral gastroenteritis isn't something you take lightly."

You shake your head mentally. Why couldn't she just say stomach bug?

"But I'm used to it. Being alone I mean." You try to persuade her that you're more than capable of taking care of yourself.

"Yes, that's because you haven't met me yet." Her teasing smile turns to concern. "You look a little pale."

"I'm sure, doctor. Thank you." You try to dismiss her.

"Go back to bed." She drops her paper bag on your table plus a grocery bag. "I'll sort everything out for you."

"So I should allow a stranger into my house? Ow." You crouch after feeling a cramp in your stomach. This is torture.

"You can trust me. I got some medicine for the cramps."

You think about the extra help you'll now receive. It might not be as bad as you think.

"If I'm getting my own personal doctor without the fee, sign me up. You'll find me in that room over there." You point down the hall to the left.

"I didn't say this was free." You turn back to her in shock.

"You're paying for our date that you cancelled." She smirks.

"I'll gladly do it." You give her a weak smile.

"Where's your bathroom, I need to wash my hands?"

"I got you some liquids for the fluids you lost. It will give you electrolytes. Not the greatest taste but does the work."

"I'll take anything just not to feel this weak." You sit up in your bed and accept the glass.

"Also I want you to take this cramp and nausea pills. 30mins apart."

"Ok." She leaves the medicine on your bedside table and begins to walk out the door. "Wait, where are you going?"

"To make a broth. And don't worry, I brought all the ingredients."

As soon as you've had enough of the liquids you fall asleep, only for the smell of food waking you up.

"Hey, y/n. Sorry to wake you, but you need to eat something. I'm sure you're hungry." She holds a tray with a bowl on it.

You struggle to sit yourself up. "I'm definitely hungry, but I'm also weak. I can't open my eyes properly."

"Okay, are you alright with me feeding you?" She sits on your bed and places the tray between you.

"It's not like I have a choice right now." You answer sleepily.

"Did you eat something weird yesterday? Or something that tasted different?" She asks already dishing a spoonful.

"Not that I recall. Maybe I got the bug from someone else."

"A good possibility." You open your mouth to accept the spoon. "Does it taste okay?"

The warmth and flavour makes you feel like you're eating some real food.

"Even if it was terrible. I'm too hungry to care. But yes it's good."

"I'm glad." She smiles softly, dishing another spoon.

You finish your bowl in silence. You didn't mind it, it was comfortable. And you were too drained to have a conversation.

"Thank you, you didn't have to do all this. I hope to repay you one day."

"Don't worry about that now. Besides you're helping me practice for when I'm qualified." She stifles a laugh.

"Glad me and my stomach can help."

"You rest now. I'll be in the living room if you need me." Jenna stands up and takes your empty bowl.

"You can turn the tv on if you'd like."

"I'll rather read your book." She smiles appreciatively.

You smile weakly before making yourself comfortable again.

You stand up late evening to see Jenna asleep on your couch. A fallen library book on the floor.

You stifle a giggle. She looks so cute when she's asleep.

You go back in your room to find one of your favourite soft blankets and cover her with it.

You walk to the kitchen and open the fridge to find another delicious bowl of broth. And some toast in the microwave.

"Hey, I didn't mean to fall asleep. What time is it?" Jenna groggily asks.

"Too late for you to get a Uber. Just stay over." You say putting your broth in the microwave."If you need anything, extra clothes, towel, toothbrush, just let me know."

"Are you sure?" Jenna asks fixing her hair.

"You've me helped a lot. I'll drive you home tomorrow morning." You promise.

"Did you get the rest of the food?" Jenna asks. "Looks like some colour returned to your face."

"I'm warming it as we speak. What about you?"

"I brought me something to eat since I knew I would stay awhile." She points to her styrofoam box.

"But you can have anything else here that looks good, if you're still hungry." You take your bowl and toast. "Sleep well."

"You too." Jenna says before making herself comfortable on the couch again.

You turn around again quickly and meet Jenna's eyes.

"What?" She asks nervously.

"Whatever you want to be in the medical field, you'll be great. I know it." You tell her truthfully.

"Thank you." She smiles and you leave her in the living room.
