Your parents were adamant that you show your face at the event one of their wealthy business friends were hosting.
All you wanted to do was spend some time with your family after being away for months, but here they are making you work in your vacation time.

You're a social person, but whenever it comes to events with their business friends and partners, you dread it. You're always in the shadows or try to stay far away from them.

You hated the little comments they would give or personal questions that they asked.

'When are you getting married?'
'You should go out more. Don't you have any friends? You're always busy with work or studies.'

That is why you are now roaming around the empty house while everyone else is in the huge garden.

You want to escape all the drama and just have some time to yourself.

You step into a dimly lit sitting area with a balcony. You're immediately tempted to see the view from there. Your feet find their way towards the sliding door.

"Who's there?" You hear a female voice coming from the balcony.

"Apologies," you slowly step closer to the voice. "I didn't know anyone was up here."

Your eyes fall on a young woman in a black dress. She looks scared, but also determined. Determined to attack, it seems.

"And I see you don't want company

"And I see you don't want company." You raise your hands in surrender.

"Sure you're not here to gawk at the weirdo?" She spits.

Your brows frown. "What weirdo? I'm sorry, I'm confused here." You dare to step a little closer. "And I think we should start off with manners first. Firstly, what's your name?"

"Jenna."

"Nice to meet your acquaintance, Jenna. I'm y/n." You say extending your hand. Jenna hesitantly shakes it. "See, no weirdos here."

Her face softens.

"I'm sorry, I just...People just stand and stare at me. They say I'm weird, a freak." She admits.

"Really? How so." You ask curiosity getting the better of you.

"My parents have shielded me from the public eye all my life. No one has seen my face." She explains looking over the railing. "Now my father throws this party for me to meet a suitor."

"A suitor? What is this? The olden days." You joke, snickering. Your laughing begins to die down abruptly as realisation hits you.

"Did you say your father is throwing you this party?" You dare to ask what you already know. "That means you're an Ortega? Jenna Ortega."

"So are the rumors true?" Jenna says sarcastically, already accustomed to that kind of response.

"Why do you care what they think anyway?"

"I don't, I just..." She exhales. "I don't want to disappoint my father.  Everyone will think somethings wrong with me. Like why did my parents hide me for so long?"

You watch as fireworks explode in the distance. A must at events like this.

"Why are you out here anyway?" Jenna turns to you.

"Hiding. Just like you." You cross your arms. "I don't particularly enjoy events like this, but my parents need some help regarding the family business-"

"Wait, I think I have a solution to our little problems." You announce proudly.

"And that is?" Jenna's face perks up immediately with interest.

"Well my family is in need of more business contacts. And befriending the big man's daughter seems like a good idea. Investors that sort of thing... Everyone will improve their offers."

Jenna steps a little closer to you as you continue talking. "You on the other hand need people to admire you, stand in line for you. I don't see that being a problem at all."

"I don't know... Is this going to work?" Jenna bites her lip.

"You'll never know unless you try." You cross your arms over your chest. "What is there to lose?"

Jenna begins to pace. She then stops to look down into the garden. Probably looking at her father. She finally turns to
look at you. "Lead the way."

Both of you work towards the dance floor.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, my daughter. Jenna Ortega." You hear Mr Ortega announce to his guests.

All eyes are on you, but more on her.
You keep your face neutral and look everyone in the eye.

You feel Jenna's hand holds yours a little tighter as you finally reach the end.
She stands in front of you. But her eyes dart across the room.

"Focus on me." Her terrified and nervous eyes fall on yours. "Only me."

You reveal a small smile and she does the same.

You begin to waltz together. "You're doing so well." You reassure her.

"I feel like I'm about to faint." She says

"That's okay, I'll catch you." You laugh.

The song finally dies down. "You have perked their interests Miss Ortega." You tease.

"Let them watch." She says glancing at the others, before looking at you."Can I have one more dance?"

Your eyebrows frown."But you need to catch a suitor."

"I'd rather have a friend than a suitor."

"So we're friends now? Interesting development." You ponder on the idea. Actually growing fond of Jenna. You smirk. "I'll grant you another."
