You see Jenna frowning at her phone across the table.

"Is everything okay?" You ask with a half smile as you sit down.

"Huh? Yeah." Jenna answers, putting the phone away. "What did you get?"

"A bowl." You say, still a bit wary of Jenna's actions.

"Y/n, don't give me that look." She sighs. "Everything's okay. We're on vacation."
She smiles taking her glass of wine in her hand. "A break from everything and everyone. Please enjoy it."

You give her a once over and try to remove the last few minutes from your mind.

"What are you gonna paint?" You ask Jenna as you grab a paint brush.

"I'm not sure yet, I'll let the idea come to me as I go along. What about you?"

"Just be patient." You give her a wink.

You had an idea for while, since Jenna mentioned going for some pottery painting. You wanted something to remind you of your trip together.

Opening your paint containers, you carefully start to paint one side of the bowl, a dark blue with some white splatters as stars. Then the other side a light blue sky with some clouds.

You guys sit in comfortable silence until you speak up.

"Okay Jenna, paint your thumb white for me." You instruct.

Jenna's eyes lifts from the cup she was painting. Eyebrows frowning. "Well that's an odd request. Why?"

"It's part of my idea." You give her an excited smile. "I'll join you too. See, I'm painting mine yellow."

You make an imprint of your thumb overlapping from the day painting into the night painting.

You pass the bowl to Jenna carefully.
"Now your turn."

She grins once realising what you were doing and follows your directions. She returns it to you with both of your thumbs making a heart.

"You're adorable, you know that?" Jenna smiles.

"I know. You tell me all the time." You playfully roll your eyes. "Guess I learned it from the best."

Jenna scratches around in her purse and places a cigarette between her teeth. She stands up.

"I'm gonna go for a smoke, I'll be right back."

You nod and continue to paint extra details as she walks outside.

Your phone starts to vibrate in your pocket. Startled, you quickly take it out to see who the caller is.

"Hi Aunt Natalie!" you greet.

"Y/n, I'm glad I could get a hold you." You hear her sigh of relief.

"What's up? Something wrong?"

"Where's Jenna, I've been sending texts and calls but she doesn't answer and gives me very vague ones." Her tone neutral again.

"Oh I see." You found it strange that Jenna's been doing that to her mom.

"Is she with you perhaps?"

"Yes she is. She just stepped out." You watch Jenna smoking through the window. "Is there a message I should give her?"

"She just needs to answer her phone please. Some of her work people have been wondering where she is." She answers.

It felt wrong to let Jenna's mom worry, you knew the guilt would kill you if you didn't speak up.

"Oh, we just took a trip out of town. Not too far. I didn't know you were unaware." You say.
