Daniel walked into the secret room the next morning to find Sal, Max and Sav all asleep with Max and Sav leaning onto one another as papers and some books rested on top of them.
"Max. Sav." Daniel gently called to see if that would wake them.
"Go away, Saganash, or I'll mess you up." Max mumbled, and Sav started to lean away, causing him to pull her back against his side in his sleep.
Daniel quickly took a photo of the two to show the others before he leaned down in front of them.
"Wake up. It's morning." Daniel told as he tapped Max's leg to wake him up. "You're gonna be late for school.
"Shh!" He mumbled making Daniel think before standing up and leaned close to Max.
"Cake." He whispered causing Max to jolt awake.
"Cake?" He asked as he sat up, causing Sav to wake up and fall to the floor now that Max wasn't holding her and Daniel was just laughing. "Sorry Sav."
"I figured that would get a rise out of you."
"No cake? Dude, that's cold." Max told before he laid back down.
"What are you doing in here?" He questioned them.
"We were up all night, trying to fix the telegraph machine." Max told as Sav rested her head on the cushion and Max started to play with her hair not even realising it and Sals head popped up from where he fell asleep with his glasses to magnify things on.
"Is it working?" Sal asked.
"No, but we're close." Max informed him.
"It's time for school." Daniel told the three making Sav groan at having to go to school in this state of tiredness.
"If this thing has a message inside it about Erik and Kate, it can't wait. Just call 'em and tell 'em we're sick or something."
"Uh-uh. They might get suspicious. We don't want Child Services breathing down our necks. Come on, get moving." Daniel told them making Sav give a thumbs up as Max and Sal spoke as one.
"Fine."
"And don't forget to eat breakfast. Your brains need fuel just as much as your bodies do." Daniel told them as they all stood up before heading out.
"Yeah, yeah." Sal waved off before him and Max rushed to the machine once Daniel left them.
"I'm not really hungry."
"Me, neither." Sal agreed.
"What about you Sav?" Max asked making her move her hand side to side to signal she was indifferent before resting against Max as she continues to wake up.
"You know, we won't be late if we substitute breakfast-eating time for telegraph repair time." Sal pointed out before putting his glasses back on to work on it.
"All right. This is it."
"All right." Sal repeated.
The three watched in anticipation as Max reached forward and presses a button, causing it to spark and zap again, making them lean back.
"This is definitely not it." Sal pointed out as he took his glasses off.
"Go! Now!" Daniel called to the three once he saw they weren't following.
"Coming." Sal mumbled as he slightly stumbled out and Max continued to look at the machine.
Sav gave Max a tap on the shoulder to get him to look at her, so he could see she was signalling for him to follow after her.
"Quiet day?" He asked making her nod before the two headed out together.Tess, Anika and Daniel were sitting at the table in the kitchen, all having their own versions of breakfast and Daniel was looking at a photo of Erik and Kate that he kept on his phone before seeing Max walk in. Of course, Daniel couldn't help but give a strange smile at Max, confusing the boy.
"What?"
"You just seem pretty relaxed for someone who has about 30 seconds before they have to leave for school." He pointed out as Max stood next to a glass teapot and gave a shrug.
"Fine, I won't eat."
"You have to eat! Just do it fast!" Daniel told in a panic.
"You're a weird dude, you know that?" Max questioned as he grabbed the teapot and a tea bag and Sav walked in, grabbing a apple for her form of breakfast.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. That teapot is priceless." Daniel warned so Max knew to be careful with it and he used both his hands to hold it closer to his face so he could look at it more clearly.
"Is everything in this place priceless?" Max asked making Sav grab her phone and sent Max a text, only for him to not read it right away.
"Pretty much. Just give it here before you break it. It was a gift to Erik's family from the Duke of Dusseldorf. Or Dubrovnik." Daniel told before Sal rushed in in a panic.
"Guys, I'm gonna be late for school!" He shouted making Max jump and drop the teapot, making it shatter on the ground. "Aah!"
Everyone starred in shock at the fact they just lost a very important part of the Hunters family history, just like that.
"No! Not the Duesenberg teapot!" Sal exclaimed in a panic.
"Duesenberg. That's it." Daniel told forgetting how serious this lose was.
"It's irreplaceable." Sal informed Max, making Daniel remember as Sav moved and began to carefully collect the pieces off the ground.
"We have to get another one! Oh, that's gonna cost a fortune." Daniel pointed out.
"Do you know what 'irreplaceable' means?" Max asked in a panic.
"Really hard to replace?" He asked making the others stared in shock as Sav facepalmed, before texting the meaning to the group chat. "Impossible to replace if lost or damaged.... oh that's bad."Sal, Sav and Max heard voices in the museum section as they headed for the front door, making them look to see it was Tess and Anika.
"If Erik and Kate have a picture of 'The Golden Pigeon' on their wall, it must be really important, right?" Anika asked Tess as the three walked to join them.
"I don't know. There's lots of pictures of street scenes in the museum, and the family did own the building." Tess pointed out.
"I bet that's where they are! Can't we go there and look for them?"
"It's not gonna be easy. For one, we don't know where 'The Golden Pigeon' is. There's no street sign, no building number." Tess pointed out.
"But you'll find it, right? We have to go there." She begged before Daniel rushed in and joined them all with Tess and Anika's bags.
"After school. Do you hear me? Now, go!" He told making them all head off and he tossed each of their jackets to them as they all passed him.
