When we arrived home, Daniel had surprised us with another Morse code message that we needed to decipher.
"So net dive away the dynamic." I started to read out and it sounded really off.
"Still can't really read Morse code?" Max asked.
"I still can't. Maybe I should read that Morse code book my father dropped at the house to try and help me with it." I stated as I gave it to Sal so he could use his app.
After a few minutes of scanning and decoding, the message popped up and Sal read it out.
"Do not give away the diamond. Repeat, do not. Find MGP at Pica Pica. Stop. He will help. Stop."
"Can I just quickly point out, I got away and the right."
"I'm happy for you." Max told me.
"Thank you, I do try." I told before we got on track with what this message was telling us to do.
"What does it mean? MGP and Pica Pica?" Max asked.
"I've heard Pika Pika before but I can't remember what it means right now." I admitted before Daniel got a look of something and then instantly lost it.
"Let's go look it up." Sal suggested making us go to do that, leaving Nika and Daniel in the kitchen. We ended up hiding away in the secret room so Kelly didn't see anything we were looking at and Sal quickly found what we were looking for.
"MGP is a cryptography algorithm. It's used to transmit a symmetric key with the assistance of asymmetric cryptography." Sal read out.
"That's not helpful." Max pointed out in slight boredom and I rubbed his arm to comfort him as I though.
"I'm thinking of birds." I admitted.
"Why?" Max asked.
"I have no idea, just am." I told him before Sal spoke up again.
"But it's interesting."
"It's not interesting, either. Try, um... Try Pica Pica."
"It's Latin for a bird species of--" Sal began to read before I cut him off.
"Magpies! That's why I was thinking of birds cause Pica Pica is magpies. Thank the gods that's solved, it was gonna bother me for so long." I told the two.
"You know the Latin species of magpies?" Max asked.
"Yeah. Homeschool thing I guess." I told with a shrug before he got his thinking face.
"Magpie." He thought out loud before zooming into the word. "Without the vowels, that's MGP. Could it be the same thing? MGP and Pica Pica?"
Sal looked it up to see and to our surprise we found a store called Pica Pica, making us found our next lead.
"There's an antique store called Pica Pica in, wait for it... Amsterdam." Sal told us, making us get excited.
"Now, that's interesting." Max told before we all did our handshake and went to hurry off only to watch Sal fall of his chair.
"Come on, dude." Max muttered as I chuckled at his fall and we headed off to find this place and see what clues are there. We were following Evelyn since she apparently has gotten a few things from the guy and knew exactly where the place was.
"Thanks for helping us." Max told her.
"It's no sweat. I'm actually looking for a gift for my mate Fabian since he is supposed to come back from his little excavation in Egypt soon and his birthday is that same week." She explained before we were standing outside it and looked in through the window. "I'm gonna be a few shops down if you guys need me. I have just been informed, we need a new blender."
"Alfie?"
"And Jerome. I don't know how, I'm curious to know why, but I am scared for what the story will be.... See ya." She told before leaving us.
"It's not mean if I say she's odd right?" Max asked.
"No. You should see her with the rest of her family, strange times."
"So what's the plan?" Sal asked so we knew what to do when we went in.
"Put hand on door. Push. Enter store." Max told us.
"After that?" I asked before Sal spoke up.
"No, I mean, how are we going to find out what we need to find out?"
"Sometimes, you gotta fly by the seat of your pants, all right?"
"I don't know. This seems risky with no plan." I pointed out.
"It'll be fine. Come on, it'll be cool." He told as he grabbed my hand and Sal's arm to drag us in, dispute our protests.
"Wait, Max, we don't know." We both told him.
"Don't worry, it'll be fine."When we entered the joint, we were amazed by all the things the store had and I couldn't help but feel like this was like the house in the first Narnia movie. Sal found a glass cabinet filled to the brim with old things, making his knowledge come into play.
"Wow! A sword from the 18th century! Did you know in the 18th century, it was very common for the people--" he shouted out, making Max grab the back of his collar and pulled him along.
We entered the room we could somewhat see through the window and I ended up finding a glass looking egg, confusing me why it appeared so familiar. Sal joined my side and looked up at the egg as well and I could tell he also recognised it.
"You've got a good eye, young man and young lady." A man suddenly spoke, making the three of us jump and move back from shock. "That egg dates back to 1917. It was a gift from the Tzar of Russia to the Tzarina."
"How much?" Max asked.
"Is there something I can help you boys and girl with?" He asked the three of us.
"Yeah, as a matter of fact. There-- there is, mister..."
"Browning."
"Browning, yes. We are looking for the... the magpie." Max told him making me mentally face palm.
The three of us waited in silence to see what was going to happen at that name, only for him to not really react.
"The magpie, you say?" He asked making us nod. "Well, you've come to the right place. Pica Pica, the name of my store, is Latin for magpie."
Me and Sal shared a look and silently agreed we needed to go back to the hunter house to look at something.
"Great! That's the last clue! Let's go tell the scoutmaster we won the scavenger hunt!" Sal told him as I grabbed him by the collar to drag him out as he was confused.
"What?" Max asked
"Thanks, Mr. Browning!" Sal told as I gave a wave as we went past to leave.
"What are you talking about?" I was just getting somewhere with that guy. Did you see the way he looked when I said magpie?" Max questioned us as we went back onto the street.
"I have to check something at home." Sal told him.
"Better be important." Max stated as I texted Eve we had to head off back to the house for something.
