Sal, Max and Sav rushed into class late and midway through Clutterbeak's teaching, Max and Sal tried sneaking to their three seater only for Sav to not care and walk behind them.
"When an airway is obstructed by a foreign object, the Heimlich maneuver is used to clear it." She explained as she drew the diagram on the board. "Young man and lady, you're late."
Sal and Max froze to their spot as they shared a panicked look towards her and Sav continued to sit in the middle seat, surprising Max that she didn't seem scared by the lady.
"You'd better have a good explanation." She told the three but mostly focused on Max.
"Of course I do. You don't think I'd be late for a class as important as this if I could help it, do you?" He asked only to get no reaction from the lady and Sav got Sal's bag to put it in his spot. "I went to bed super early last night so I'd be really rested for class today, and then I got up early to double-check my homework and have a healthy breakfast, you know, because our brains need fuel just like our bodies, and then I jumped on my bike to get to class and you wouldn't believe it."
"You'd better not say you had a flat tire." She told interrupting Max.
"No, I didn't have a flat because I always check my tire pressure the night before, but right there on our corner, this poor little girl did have a flat and she was so, so upset. How could I not help her? I mean, back me up on this. It was the only thing I could do, right?" He asked the rest of the class, making them all agree with him.
"Well, if you were as early as you say, you still would have made it on time." She pointed out.
"Seemingly, and I was-- I was well on my way on doing just that when I saw--"
"A little old lady."
"A little old horse." He corrected and he saw he had made Sav hide her mouth behind her hands to hide her amusement on this. "You know, one of those tiny little ponies about yay big? He must have gotten loose from the stable and I just couldn't let him--"
"All right, all right." Clutterbeak told cutting Max off again. "Just sit down and stop talking."
Sav pulled her chair in more so Sal could go past for his seat and Max went and sat down on her right side. But before they could properly sit down, Mrs. Clutterbeak continued to talk to Max.
"Oh, and good news, Maximilian. I'll be your guidance counsellor for the rest of the school year. That means we will be seeing a lot of each other. You and I are going to really get to know each other well." She informed him, making him get a look of disbelief on his face, while Sav wrote down what was on the board so it seemed like she was focusing on class when really she wrote a small note on her book that she also had her, so he wasn't so alone and Max couldn't help but be thankful to have been able to meet her through the Hunters. As class went on, Sal and Max were on their phones trying to work out how to fix the machine while Sav was doing the questions that was set for the class, since she felt this lesson was boring, though she did thank her father for his strange teaching from the ages of 4-14 to make her more advance knowledge wise then majority of her classmates.
"So, where would one grab a person in case of choking?" Clutterbeak asked the class, making one of the Brule twins put her hand up.
"Miss Clutterbeak." She began before her brother continued for her.
"He's using his phone during class." He added making her look over towards the trio in the room, making Sav look up and kick Sal under the table, he looked up and saw what was going on making him hide his phone again, but they weren't able to save Max in time.
"The answer is in between the navel and the bottom of the rib cage, but some of us seem to know this already, so they can come in late and play on their phones!" She shouted at the end once she reached the desk, making Max jump back and drop his phone from shock.
"Gahh!" He spoke before trying to act cool, making Sav give a chuckle from amusement, not caring their teacher was in front of them.
"Why don't you demonstrate for your classmates how it's done since you seem to know already?" Clutterbeak asked Max.
"Happy to." He told before getting up and went over to the Skeleton to use for the demonstration. "We are talking about the... the, uh... uh..."
"Aha! So you admit you weren't paying attention."
"No. I just usually refer to it by its Latin name, you know, Omnimous Maximus, uh, Benjamin." He told making Sav smile towards him in disbelief and amusement, which he still felt proud of whenever he managed that and miss Clutterbeak was just confused at what she deemed stupidity.
"That's completely false. There is no Latin name for the Heimlich maneuver. It was invented in the late 20th century by Henry Heimlich." She informed him.
"Right. I was thinking about the hypothalamus."
"Your-- your brain?" She asked.
"Oh, that's very flattering. I wouldn't call myself a brain. You know, above average, sure, but..." he started to waffle making her cut him off.
"Just get to it. Heimlich." She told making him look at the skeleton before tsking and reached for the skeletons hand.
"Hello, Heimlich. I'm Max. Don't call me Maximilian." He told the skeleton making Sav stick her tongue between her teeth to stop her laughter, but Max was still able to see it and took note of it.
"Maximilian." She spoke making him cover the skeletons ears.
"You're gonna confuse him."
"Demonstrate the Heimlich maneuver." She ordered, making Sav and Sal moved high enough so Max could see the two demonstrate where he needed to put his hands and how to do it, making him copy in himself
Clutterbeak took notice of the silent conversation, making her look but just missed Sav hitting Sal to signal they needed to sit and act like they weren't doing a thing. Max clicked his fingers together to get their teachers attention again and away from Sal and Sav.
"You know what? Let me take you all back to the 20th century when all the kids were doing a new dance craze called the Heimlich Maneuver, like this." He told before he did a spin and started to dance with the skeleton.
Of course the class laughed at his stupidity and Sav just smiled in confusion as she shook her head in disbelief that he did this, despite them giving him the answer.
"Oh, my migraine is back." Clutterbeak muttered as Max dipped the skeleton before bringing him back to his feet and started to talk to it.
"I'm so hungry. May I have a spare rib?" He asked making the class, but he only really cared that Sav was laughing, till Clutterbeak shushed the class.
"I'll be having a long talk with your parents about this behaviour, Maximilian, very soon." She told him, making the three get a pained expression at that fact. "Now, take your seat."
He gave the skeleton a tap before he headed back to his seat and she went and stood before everyone.
"Did you all enjoy this little show? I hope you'll have as much fun tomorrow taking a surprise test." She informed everyone, making them all groan and gasp at that news, but Sal, Sav and Max were more focus on the whole parent issue they were now in.
