The key to where?

Once we were sitting in his little office area and he poured us all some tea as he began to explain to us about Josephine.
"Josephine Hunter is buried next to old Kees over there, and if you believe the stories, there were two men in her life." Pete explained to us as Max blew on his tea to cool it down a bit and I just sipped it not caring that it was too hot, which did make Max sip it like he wanted to prove something only for a look of regret form on his face.
'Weird boy he is.'
"She lost 'em both." Pete stated as he sat across from us again. "They say she never smiled again."
'And yet she was never to blame for what happened.'
"She was famous for a Dimond big as a walnut, a gift from Kees." Pete continued to explain as he grabbed a folder and put it in front of us. "Here's where it gets interesting. No one knows what became of it. It just disappeared."
"The knowledge of where it went died when Josephine died. Many people have actually tried to locate it, but none have succeeded. One of those unknown mysteries that make people go crazy trying to." I pointed out before sipping more of my tea.
"I see someone has done their own research." Pete told with a smile making me smile back.
"Yeah a little bit. My great-grandfather was one of the many people that tried to find it and went crazy doing so. So, I've heard a few stories here and there about it." I explained.
"Exactly. You know, stories, right?" He repeated with a slight chuckle.
'Well this is something.'
"But by the looks of the tombstone, somebody didn't like her very much. This has all the details of her life."
"Uh can we take a look? We are Hunters, and basically an unofficial Hunter, after all." Tess told Pete.
"Well, you'll need a letter of authorisation signed by a judge." Pete told us, making us give a confused look.
"Huh?" Tess questioned before Pete smiled again.
"Just kidding. You can look. Nothing much in there. Go ahead." Pete told us, making us start looking through it. "Information about upkeep of the grave, a list of the next of kin, just a bunch of old, dusty documents."
Of course as he explained all that, we found an old key among the papers making us all share a look.
"Cookie, anybody?" He offered us making me decline since I wasn't in the cookie mood.
Of course for some stupid reason, Max began to somewhat chug the tea, causing him to cough some up due to how hot it was. I rubbed his back as he cleared his throat and he looked towards Pete.
"Uh, Spooky Pete, would you mind if if I had another cup of tea, please?" Max asked.
"Certainly, my boy. Have as much as you'd like." Pete told him as he got up to refill Max's now empty cup.
We took this opportunity to quickly get the key but as Max went to put it in his pocket, he ended up dropping it on the floor and Pete found it.
"What? Eh? What's that?" He questioned as he picked it up and pocketed it before giving Max his new cup. "Here you go. And help yourself to a cookie. Now, don't be shy."

After some more time with Pete, where I read as much as I could about the file he had on Josephine, we were now leaving to head home. Of course we still needed to find a way to get the key off of Pete.
"So I asked the guy, why aren't you coming to his funeral? And he says to me, why should I? He's not coming to mine." He told us making me nudge the two so we started to laugh.
"Oh, you're the best, Pete." Tess told him.
"You three come again soon, huh? I'll make sure to make you a cup when you visit your mothers grave next, Savanna."
"As long as I won't bore you to death." I joked making him point to me before he laughed at the joke I made.
"That's a good one."
"We will." Tess agreed.
"Good, good."
"Can I hug you?" Tess asked making him give a soft smile.
"If you insist." He told before Tess hugged him.
After a few moments, Tess pulled away and I saw the look she gave me.
"Can I also give you a hug?" I asked.
"Of course." He agreed making me hug him and saw Tess signal which pocket.
I made sure to work as quick as I could and once I got it, I tossed it to her making her catch it as I pulled apart from Pete. Max seemed confused at what was going on, until Pete moved to hug Max as well.
"Oh, I'm really more of a handshake..." Max began to explain before Pete tackled him into a hug and me and Tess were just smile.
"What a fine young man." Pete told him as they pulled apart. "Hey, you come back soon, eh? And don't wait 'til they make me a permanent resident here, if you know what I mean."
"Okay, we will." Tess called out as we watched him leave.
"Did you see that? I almost had the key." Max told the two of us once Pete was far enough away, making Tess show him said key. "The hug."
"I found it but couldn't get it, so Sav helped get it." Tess explained.
"Sly boots." He told the two of us.
"All right. I'm gonna bring it back as soon as we know what it opens." Tess told us making us rush to the entrance.
We took a short cut through one of the graveyard sections and Max came to a halt and moved back to one of the other graves.
"Max? What are you doing?" Tess asked as we went closer to him and I realised what was going on.
"I thought all the old ones were in the back." He told us.
"They are."
"Then why is there a Saganash grave here?" He questioned as he pointed to the one that had flowers that I knew were recently placed there.
"What?" Tess asked making us move closer and look at it. "Alexandria Saganash, loving mother and wife, the world has lost another sparkling jewel too soon and I'll make them never forget it, even in death itself."
"You don't think..." Max began to think.
"That she could be connected to our Saganash?" Tess finished it.
'Oh dear.'
