When Simone began to move the crowd to make sure everything went smoothly, me and Max made our escape back inside the house to avoid her yelling at us. We met Tess on the stairs and were just keeping track over everyone we saw enter the place. Soon Daniel came back in and over to us with a smile on his face.
"I did it. I gave her the letter." Daniel told us.
"Good for you, buddy." I told as I gave his shoulder a tap.
"What'd she say?" Tess asked.
"She sort of doesn't know I gave it to her." He admitted, confusing us on what he meant over the whole thing. "Anyway, never mind. How's it going? Any sign of, uh, Saganash?"
"I don't know. I don't know what he looks like." Max admitted.
"Yeah why did no one think of that key fact?" I questioned since that was needed for the whole thing.
"I still think we're taking a big risk drawing this crowd here." Tess pointed out.
"A risk we have to take." Max reminded her, before we were joined by Anika.
"Hey, guys. Have you seen Jean Louise?" She asked us, worried.
"Who?"
"Jean Louise." She repeated before going down the rest of the stairs.
"You lost her?" Daniel asked worried.
"Yeah." Anika stated as she headed off and Daniel gave us a panicked worried look.
"She better find that beast."
With that he pushed past us and rushed upstairs for safety and we were just confused that Daniel of all people was scared of a Chameleon.
"Beast?" The three of us repeated as we shared a look at that before refocusing on what we were here to do.
"I'm gonna go check on Sal." Max told us before leaving and left me and Tess in charge at watching people by the stairs.
'I'm worried by this.'
My phone began to ring, making me grab it to see it was my father and I looked at Tess.
"Gotta take this." I told her before going upstairs to take the call in private.(Max p.o.v)
I entered the rec room and closed the door behind me as Sal worked the cameras.
"Hey, how's it going?" I asked as I walked over to him.
"Great. I've got coverage of every angle." He explained as we looked at the cameras.
"Perfect." I told before we saw Samone yelling at some people. "If Saganash beats the trap, at least we'll have it on video."
"What do you mean, beats the trap?" Sal questioned as I watched Sav walk back down the stairs and give a worried look.
"It's not gonna happen, just a backup." I pointed out as Sav rushed to us. "A little extra insurance so nothing can go wrong."
"Something is going wrong." Sav told us when she entered before Sal leaned forward in his seat with a worried look.
"She's right. Something just went wrong." Sal told us making us lean towards the camera as he zoomed into Clutterbeak.
"Clutterbeak. What is she doing here?" I questioned.
"Go check it out." Sal told me, making me stand and look at Sav.
"Oh I'm not letting you deal with her alone, despite wanting to." She told making us give a nod before heading out.
We thanked people for coming as we went past them and stopped in shock when we saw Evelyn and Jerome with their roommate.
"Hey guys." We both told them.
"Hey."
"What are you two doing here?" I asked them.
"Oh it's date day. We had the day off so we both decided to do couple things." Jerome explained.
"+ Alfie since he somehow exploded a can of soup in our kitchen." Evelyn added.
"Not even I know how I did that. But yeah, they've brought me for their date things. But I like it cause they buy me things." He informed us.
"Good to know." We both told the trio.
"If you'll excuse us, we need to deal with an annoying teacher." I added before we headed off.
After our chat with them. We continued thanking others for coming before we stopped in front of Clutterbeak and some kids from our class.
"Mrs. Clutterbeak." We told with a smile before looking towards our classmates.
"Julius, Janine. This is a surprise." I pointed out.
"Yes, well, I heard about the exhibition and decided to take some of my favourite students on a special field trip." She informed us.
"Suck ups." Sav coughed out, making me smile at it.
"On a weekend. Lucky you." I added making Sav smile in amusement
"Yeah. Precious gems are one of my many areas of expertise." She informed us.
"Right, along with child torture." I mumbled making her give me a look.
"What's that?"
"He said child teaching." Sav quickly stated.
"She's right. Along with child teaching."
"Ah. So... where is this diamond?" She asked us as she showed her magnifying glass.
We shared a look before referring to the line before her as everyone took their turns in having a look at the diamond.
"Well, you don't expect us to wait in line, do you?" She asked us.
"Well everyone does." Sav pointed out.
"We deserve VIP treatment." She stated making me become confused at this.
"It moves pretty fast."
"People only really look for about 5 minutes. Especially since we have a little sign by the door informing them on the history we know about said diamond." Sav explained as our classmates share a look at the fact this would most likely be the first time they've heard her speak since she prefers not to at school.
"Sav's right. It'll only be like a couple of minutes really."
"Oh, well, it... it would be unfortunate if my experience here were to somehow have a negative effect on your grades." She threatened me.
"I didn't know a grade could go lower than F." I told her, calling her bluff.
"That's true. Yours can't get any lower. But what about your brother Sal?" She asked making me and Sav pull a shocked look at her using Sal. "I would hate to see something happen to his nice, shiny A."
"I'm sorry, you're threatening grades to get what you want? Wow you are terrible." Sav told, not caring if Clutterbeak heard it or not.
"I'll lower yours as well."
"Try it. My gran is on the school board, you'll be fired if you even try." Sav threatened back.
'Wow that is hot. But we can't risk Sal's grades for this.'
"I'm sure we can accommodate you." I told her, making her smile at us. "Right this way."
We turned around and began to lead them through the crowd, and gave a look to Sal through the cameras at this.
"Is your gran really on the school board?" I whispered to Sav as we made our way to the front.
"Yeah. My mother was a teacher like her mother. Though she also liked adventures, so she'd go around the world teaching the lesser privileged. It's actually how my parents met, she was being adventurous and my dad was my dad, doing what he claimed to be the thrill of a life time." Sav explained to me.
"That's actually pretty interesting."
"Yeah I suppose so." She stated before we went and stood beside the doorframe in the library with Tess since she helped read the plague out to some guest who had trouble reading it.
Clutterbeak of course was annoyed as she looked through the magnifying glass she had for the gem just out of reach from it. She blew on the glass before wiping it on her jacket to see it better, only for it to not really work.
"I can hardly see it." She informed us in annoyance. "Why do we have to stand so far away?"
"Security measures... ma'am." I informed her, making Sav smile at that.
"It's ridiculous!" She stated before trying to go over the rope barrier.
"Please stay behind the rope, miss Clutterbeak." Tess quickly told her as we moved to block her from entering and setting off the trap.
"I have paid to see this diamond and now I want to be able to really see it."
"You've got eyes don't you?" Sav asked, making me fail at holding back my smile before we focusing on stopping her from moving over the rope again.
"Please, it's museum policy."
"Step back." Tess added.
"Or you'll have to be escorted?"
"You'd like that wouldn't you?" Clutterbeak stated.
"1000%!"
"I have never been treated so shabbily. Where are your parents?!" Clutterbeak asked as she crossed her arms.
"Wow the grocery store must really love you." Sav stated, no longer caring if Clutterbeak heard her or not.
"I would like to speak to them this instant!" She demanded.
"We'll put them in touch with you during regular business hours." Tess quickly informed her.
"I knew it. There's always been something wrong with this family and their friendship." She informed us as she glared towards us. "But I won't take it. I'm going to the police right now to report this... scam!"
"And I'll be talking with my grandmother over blatant favouritism as well as using your authority to get what you want from the students." Sav informed her as she turned around to head off.
"The diamond's the size of a walnut."
"She would know, it's the size of her brain." Sav stated as me and Tess shared a look at this before looking towards her.
"You ok?" We asked her.
"My father called me earlier. She just pissed me off more." Sav admitted."Ha! The size of a pea, I mean." Clutterbeak continued on as she stormed out, before Janine let out a scream and pointed to the rope we had next to the stairs.
"What is that?!" She shouted.
"Get a grip. That's just a chameleon." Clutterbeak stated before another guest let out a scream.
We watched in shock as people began to run out from fright and we even signalled for Evelyn, Jerome and Alfie to duct into the door beside them so they could avoid being run over. When we saw Clutterbeak fall to the ground Sav couldn't help but laugh at the whole thing, making me smile with it as we continued to watch them all run out of our house. Once everyone was out of the house, Janine and Julius came back and helped Clutterbeak to her feet before the three left together.
