Not good at all

Cherie's POV

Not much damage has befallen Abandale. I've seen two fallen trees and scourings litter the ground but it seems that people has been working together to clean up a bit.

I'm quite relived when I see no broken down homes or any other extensive damages.

I sneak inside my home for a changing of clothes. This dress has been put through the ringer and needs a good washing.

As I tiptoe through the small wooden house, I notice Delroy peacefully asleep with the blankets pulled up over his shoulders. His quiet snores indicate he's in a deep sleep which lets me relax a tad as I shuffle through my drawers.

His snoring halts, making my body freeze in attempts to not be caught.

Please, stay asleep.

Delroy turns, facing away from me. Moments later the snoring returns.

I let out a breath that I was holding so I was as quiet as possible, pulling out a sky blue dress out of the drawer.

I peel out of the dress I've had for a few days and toss it in a small basket we keep in the room for our dirty clothes. The sky blue dress fits perfectly on my body, making my waist look small but softly accentuates my curves. I'm happy I've never gotten in trouble for wearing it, it's one of my favorite dresses but if I were to catch the King in a bad mood, he may punish me for dressing like a harlot.

After I get dressed I scurry out of the house knowing that I'll come back in the afternoon for lunch.

I should go see momma and dad. I bet Amias misses me.

Once I get there, I knock on the door in a rhythmic tune.

Dad opens the door with a large smile on his face, "my favorite daughter," I laugh since I'm his only daughter, "where's Delroy?" He mentions as he looks around.

"Oh, he's still asleep. Working nights has him sleeping in," I giggle, trying to sound as wifely as possible.

Technically, I'm not lying. He is asleep.

"I see. When I'm asked to take a night shift, I always sleep in the next day," he shows a small side smile, "come on in," he wafts his hand for me to follow him inside.

"Cherie!" Amias yells, running into the living room at full speed.

He jumps onto my torso and hangs off my shoulders for dear lift before I wrap my arms around him to keep him up.

"How is my little man?" I inquire.

He opens his mouth wide and points to a gap between his teeth, "I lost a tooth," he gibbers while trying to hold his mouth open for me to see.

I hold his head and pretend I'm astonished by the sight before me, "I can't believe this!"

He giggles as I bring him into the kitchen to see momma.

"Hey momma," I give her a side hug after setting Amias down.

"Hey girly. Would you like some tea? Are you hungry? We already had breakfast but I'd be happy to make you something before work."
