Chapter 72

Hazel's pov

I released the breath i was holding as finally the lights went on. As first thing i sense his continues stares watching me ,his gaze was sharp and intense making me cheeks hot. Why he always try to intimidate me like this. My fingers naturally grabbed on to the podium while my eyes quickly averted from him to uncle Collin. Like always uncle collin had his warm wide smile assuring me. I smiled back finally breathing sharp feeling bit of confidence.

Handing over the conversation to Olivia, i walked back to my empty seat beside Eric.

"You did good" he whispered as soon as i sat beside him but still i could feel my heart beating so loud. I surely was nervous as hell. It was my first time giving a speech like this. I was never good with words and morever infront of lot of people like this. Mumbling a small thanks i half smiled feeling bit of proud about my self.

The meeting went for another half of hour as Olivia was giving her explanation about the budget plan. It was already past twelve in the afternoon when it finally finished but thank god Eric was there beside me. I didn't get bored as he was whispering his cranky jokes. He already had his set of funny names for the board directors. it was hallurios, he even mimic their voices making tears to gathered in my eyes because i was hardly holding my laugh.

Once or twice i felt Hayden's eyes on me and like always he was eyeing me too hard. What's with him?? Oh just ignore him Haze. That's nothing new he only know one emotion, that's anger. My inner voice said rolling her eyes.

Finally i got up from my seat as the meeting ended without a hassle. We waited until everyone go out from the conference room. Uncle Collin and Hyden guided them out.

"Finally, that went well" Olivia muttered and there was that little happiness in her voice trying to hidden. She worked hard for this but waited with a huge doubt about what would be the reaction of board members. Hence everything went smooth i can say we are successful in making them amazed.

"Yes.. things went great, without a single complain" I mumbled eyeing her smiling.

"Yesss!!! i thought this ass members would start question every single thing but guess they finally have learned to keep their mouth quite" she whispered with a giggle making me surprised. Usually Olivia has her self controled in next level. She always too monotonous for her own good. May be she is extra over excited today to talk like this. I gave her my little suprised eyes as she winked with a knowing smile.

"Okay guys, get back to work, only few hours remaining and we have lot more things to settle" Olivia said in her excited voice and walked out of the conference room leaving Eric and me behind.

Nodding my head, i picked up my small note book and tried to follow her but stopped as Eric called my name. Stopping my steps in the middle i turned to him and he was already waiting to talk to me.

"Haze.. i know this is crazy and you certainly don't like this idea either" he stopped in the middle hesitantly eyeing my face. I frowned when he didn't complete what he wanted to say.

"Okay, what is it??" I mumbled with a small encouraging smile.

"The thing i want to ask is , if you would like to be my date tomorrow?" he shyly asked scratching the back of his head. Oh well, i was really shocked as i didn't expect this coming. He shrugged his shoulders eyeing my suprised face. I know everyone have to come as couples according to the theme but i never thought about to pairing with someone.

"I know, you didn't expect this but you know I'm in a kind of tight position." He said in his shy voice.

"My fiance away for her hometown so she couldn't come with me and I'm not comfortable with anyone other than you, as my date " he hesitantly said again arching his brows together.
