What comes next?

That's the question everyone had asked them when Twice ended. What will the nine members of one of South Korea's most successful K-pop groups do?

They each had their own paths to take. Some stayed in the idol industry, carving out names for themselves as solo artists. Others chose to pursue modeling, song writing, music production, and acting.

Jeongyeon had chosen her own path by disappearing from the public eye. It didn't surprise her family and friends, especially her members; they knew how she liked to suddenly withdraw and have her own space.

She occasionally popped up from time to time: a radio interview once in a while, the occasional post on social media for her fans, even a guest appearance on one of Seungyeon's shows that had the internet buzzing. Then she had disappeared again.

After spending half her life in the spotlight, Jeongyeon was ready for her life to be her own. She woke up when she wanted, ate what she wanted, went out for drinks with the girls (mostly Jihyo and Sana), and filled her days however she saw fit. And she loved every single moment of it.

Currently, she was in her penthouse, cooking rabokki for her evening meal. The sauce was just beginning to simmer and would be done soon. Her phone alerted her to a new text message.

She wiped her hands on her apron before reaching for her phone and reading the message. It looked like she'd be eating her meal alone tonight. That was no problem for her; she ate alone most nights anyway.

The clattering of nails on the floor alerted her to the presence of her furry companions. Jeongyeon was technically never alone really thanks to Yuki and Peanut. Her faithful dogs were still alive and well, never far from her side.

"Don't worry, I didn't forget about you two," she said with a smile.

Jeongyeon adjusted the stove then went to the cabinet where the dog treats were stored. Peanut and Yuki both wagged their tails in excitement, already anticipating the treats their owner would give them.

"Sit," Jeongyeon commanded.

Both dogs obeyed instantly. She simultaneously threw treats to both dogs, and they jumped up, catching the treats in midair before gobbling them up. Jeongyeon repeated the process one more time.

Once her dogs were taken care of, it was time for her dinner. She fixed herself a bowl then headed to her favorite spot.

The outdoor patio with the gorgeous skyline view of Seoul had been the deciding factor when she'd purchased the penthouse and she'd certainly gotten her money's worth. Almost every night found her sitting there eating a meal or enjoying a glass of her favorite whiskey. Sometimes the girls came over when their schedules allowed, and they always ended up out on the patio. In fact, Chaeyoung had been here just a few nights ago, sharing a bottle of wine with her.

Tonight was no exception to her routine.

Jeongyeon made herself comfortable in her favorite chair, put on some relaxing music, then began to eat. The weather was perfect with the refreshing spring breeze still hanging on even though summer was fast approaching. The last few rays of sunlight were starting to fade as night took hold. She took in a deep breath, stopping to appreciate the moment of tranquility.

Yoo Jeongyeon had found peace and she was able to acknowledge that it had been hard fought. Looking back on those years when she'd lost confidence in herself and her abilities didn't sting like it used to; she was even grateful for them. Her battles with anxiety, with self-doubt and worry, had shaped her into a stronger version of herself.

She had taken the time to discover who she really was and learned to love herself. The parts of her that she'd wanted to hide, she learned to embrace. Not many people were able to do that. But Jeongyeon had done it.
